LAST CALL! Student Leadership Applications 📝

Linked here is the application form for our current 4th graders who are interested in joining the 5th grade Student Leadership Team for the 2026-2027 school year.

Applications were due on Monday, April 13th!

Our current 5th grade student leaders will be helping me with the application screening and interview process starting on Tuesday, April 21st. If your 4th grader missed the deadline, but really wanted to apply, please have them do so ASAP!

Traffic Updates & Reminders 🚧

Please see the construction notice for a project beginning on Monday, April 20th right outside of Richmond.

As you may know, we already have other construction projects in progress around our school campus, so this additional project will only add more traffic concerns to our area.

Please drive extra patiently and slowly around our school, especially during arrival and dismissal times. Being on time will never be more important than the safety of our students and community members.

K-2 Earth Day Author Visit 4/20 📚

Kortney Irias (Ms. Ais) is a Richmond parent and one of our most favorite substitute teachers to welcome into our school. She is also the talented author of the book Theo Rio Loves the Water!

In honor of Earth Day coming up later this month Ms. Ais will be hosting a special grade level assembly for K-2 classes on the morning of Monday, April 20th. The book's main character Theo will guide the reader through some of his favorite experiences playing in and observing water. He also invites students to think about the different ways water impacts the world around us.

Rightsizing Schools in PPS: Make Your Voices Heard! 📢

REMINDER: Please strongly consider making your voices heard at the upcoming community engagement sessions hosted by PPS leaders. In person and virtual options are available.

The district is in the process of figuring out how to “rightsize” schools, which means some schools in PPS will need to close as a result of the ongoing budget cuts.

Although the PPS director of multilingual services reassured me that he has not heard of any discussions that may impact DLI schools, I think it is always best to make our voices heard when the opportunity arises.

Click here to review some talking points to consider.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

From Our School From Our School

Message from Our Health Team: picking up medication 💊

Dear Parent/Guardian,
As we get closer to the end of the school year, we want to make sure that your students have their medications with them over the summer. Please put a reminder on your calendar to pick up your student’s medication from the health room before the end of the school year. These must be picked up by the last day of school, or they will be disposed of over the summer - we cannot keep them at the school over summer break. If you cannot come pick up medications on the last day of school, please reach out to the health room and we can help come up with a plan to get the medications back home with the student.

Book Fair Lead Volunteer(s) Needed

The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for May 4–9. To ensure we can remain open before and after school throughout the week, we need your help.

We are looking for volunteers to undergo a brief training on our register system and Book Fair procedures. These individuals will then help share that information with our daily volunteers.

Without this support, the Book Fair will only be open on Monday morning, Friday, and Saturday during the Spring Festival.

Please contact Tera (tlstefan@gmail.com) if you have any questions or can assist us in maintaining access to the book fair for our community.
