Back to School Video captures moments from first few weeks of school
We have officially finished our first three weeks of the new school year and it appears everyone is settling into their new routines quite nicely. Learning is taking place inside the classrooms, new friendships have been formed and next week will mark our first full week of school.
Our annual Back to School video captures some moments from the first few weeks of school. We loved how our seniors came together at Cardinal Stadium to watch the sun rise on the first day of school. And some of the girls showed up in some pretty cool looking jeans they decorated to mark their senior year. Capturing those first day moments of students entering the school, learning routines in the classroom and meeting new friends always make for some great photos. We hope you enjoy the video: https://video214.com/play/g3IDOos1GhNoAkAj1dAJ1g/s/dark
We also want to thank MLive Photographer Jake May for coming out to Siple Elementary on the first day of school and capturing these special moments:

T-shirts for Gold and Pink Out fundraising campaigns now available
Once again, DCS is partnering up with K&C Special Ts and Hilton Screeners to raise money for our Gold Out and Pink Out campaigns. Both stores will give a percentage of T-shirt sales to our fundraisers.
The Gold Out fundraiser will benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a charity that raises funds for childhood cancer research and assists families dealing with childhood cancer. We will host a "Gold Out" at the October 10 home game vs. Carman Ainsworth.
Money raised as part of the Pink Out campaign will go to the American Cancer Society. Our annual "Pink Out" football game will be played on October 24 when the Cardinals take on Lapeer.
See the flyers below for ordering information.

DMS Teacher Crochets Critter Pals for co-workers, students and strangers
Davison Middle School counselors Mrs. Joni Clemons and Mrs. Sarah Abraham said the students love these stuffed little animals. They make nice, quiet fidgets with great texture and squeezability in addition to bringing comfort to students.
Mrs. Leach taught herself to crochet just a couple of summers ago by watching instructional videos on YouTube. At first, she shared some of her creations with fellow staff members but once students discovered who was making the little animals, she started getting requests.
"Last year, I was asked to make some items to add to gift baskets that were given out by a local Girl Scout troop," Mrs. Leach said. "When I learned that the counselors had taken the extras and given them to kids who needed something to raise their spirits, I made a bunch this summer for them to hand out this year. I know they can be helpful to students with anxiety and also as a quiet fidget or stress ball."
Mrs. Leach, who likes to crochet in the evenings while watching TV because it keeps her hands busy, said she likes it when students challenge her to make an animal that she hasn't yet made. Last year, she made several cardinals for teachers in her department.
For now, Mrs. Leach enjoys continuing to crochet little animals. Sometimes she will leave them as gifts in places she visits as a random act of kindness.
Gates students selected as morning announcers for 1st marking period
Congratulations to Gates Elementary students Donny Schnittker and Scarlett Priester on being chosen as the first marking period Morning Announcers. While they have only been "on the job" for two weeks, we can share that they are naturals and doing an amazing job!
Parent/Guardian Information
If your child needs to take medication at school ...
If your child needs to take medication at school, either prescription or over the counter, an “Authorization to Administer Medication” form and Care Plan must be completed and signed by a doctor prior to any medication being left in the office. The form can be obtained in the office or online.
All medications must be delivered to the office by parent or other adult, never with a student for safety reasons.
Medications must be in their original packaging and prescription labels must be visible. In addition the medication must match what is written on the Authorization to Administer Medication form and cannot be expired. This information needs to be updated each school year. For further information, please contact your child's school building or Student Services at 591-0913.
