Have a wonderful Spring Break!
Dear Coupeville School District Families,
As we approach Spring Break, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support of our students and schools throughout this academic year. Your partnership, whether through volunteering, attending school events, helping with homework, or simply encouraging your children, has been instrumental in fostering a thriving educational community here in Coupeville.
Spring Break offers a valuable opportunity for our students to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with family. I hope that each of you finds moments of joy and relaxation during this well-deserved break.
If you're looking for activities to enjoy with your family that won't break the bank, here are some suggestions that showcase the beauty and charm of our local area:
- Visit Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve for hiking trails with stunning views of Admiralty Inlet and the Olympic Mountains
- Explore Fort Casey State Park and the Admiralty Head Lighthouse
- Take a stroll through the historic waterfront district and enjoy the charming shops and galleries
- Visit the Coupeville Wharf and watch for marine life in Penn Cove
- Pack a picnic and spend a day at one of our beautiful local beaches
- Check out free programs at the Coupeville Library
- Visit the Island County Historical Museum (admission is only a few dollars)
- Enjoy bird watching at Crockett Lake or the Keystone spit
- Take advantage of low tide to explore tide pools at Double Bluff Beach
- Attend Greenbank Farm and enjoy the great, dog friendly shops
Our schools will reopen on Monday, April 7. Until then, I wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Spring Break.
With appreciation,
Shannon Leatherwood Superintendent

During Spring break district-wide work will be conducted in all parking lots and drive aisles.
- Please do not park vehicles in these areas.
- The contractor will be in several areas at a time and needs the ability to navigate around without vehicles in their way.

March: National Nutrition Month!
March is a special month in school food service as we recognize National Nutrition Month and National School Breakfast Week—two observances that highlight the importance of healthy eating and access to nutritious meals for all students.
At the heart of these celebrations is our Connected Food Program, which is dedicated to providing students with wholesome, scratch-made meals that nourish their bodies and fuel their learning. National Nutrition Month encourages making informed food choices and embracing balanced eating habits, which aligns perfectly with our mission to serve fresh, locally sourced, and thoughtfully prepared meals every day.
National School Breakfast Week reminds us of the crucial role breakfast plays in student success. Thanks to our scratch-based breakfast program at the elementary school students start their day with real, nutritious food that helps them focus, learn, and thrive. By making breakfast more accessible and incorporating high-quality ingredients, we are ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy start to their day. We strive to offer the same possibilities to our secondary campus soon.
Through these initiatives, we continue to build a strong school food culture—one that values real food, supports local farmers, and fosters a sense of community in our cafeterias.
