Academic Academies
For those who missed the January Board Meeting presentation, Dr. Gabriella Franza, assistant director for instruction, presented on the Academic Academies at Baldwin High School and Pre-Academies at Baldwin Middle School, giving an overview of the School2Career framework. The presentation included brief videos featuring academy students and footage.
Students as Producers: Desigining Earthquake-Resistant Buildings
As part of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) curriculum, fifth grade students at Lenox Elementary School studied the massive earthquake that struck Haiti. Taking on the role of engineers, the students wrote successful building codes and designed, built, and tested their earthquake-resistant structures.
