Current Events
Dear Families, Reminder: Thursday, October 22, Parent Conferences: The goals for these conferences are for teachers to meet with you about your child, set and share goals, report progress to date and answer any questions you may have. This year they will also be sharing the fall STAR screening assessments in mathematics and literacy. While there is a window through 11/6 in which fall conferences can occur, we ask, if it is at all possible, that you schedule your conference on October 22, the day set aside for them. We know there will be some unavoidable exceptions, but we truly appreciate being able to hold conferences on the designated day. Thanks for your help with this. If you haven’t already, please see the links below for each classroom to schedule your conference. Open the link and pick an open slot and enter your name and email. You will get a confirmation email. VTCAP scores: This week the scores from the spring state assessments were mailed home to families of 4th and 5th graders. If you have questions, let us know. Movie night: Last Saturday’s outdoor movie sponsored by FOWE was the first of what hopefully becomes a traditional event. Although cold, it turned out beautifully. Special thanks to Erin Davis for envisioning such a memorable evening and to Tim Berthiaume for running the tech - the film sounded and looked beautiful! Thanks also to the National Bank of Middlebury and Jamie McKenna for sharing a popcorn maker and Brea Murphy for all the special cozy touches. Common Room/Boiler Room/Kitchen: Repair work sped up this week. We anticipate we will be able to move back into the closet areas next week and that the repair work will be fully completed by October 29! Phew! Lunch volunteers: Unfortunately, we still won’t be needing volunteers for yet another couple of weeks. We miss you and hope to be back to our usual service soon. Raingear reminder: Please send rain gear with your children when it has rained overnight or rain is in the forecast. Children having their own raingear seriously reduces the time it takes for them to actually get outside and some tension around who gets what. Thanks. Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301), Best, Christina Community News: FOWE event: Our final October event will be the Middlebury Maple Run Water Station. Bring your noisemakers and good spirits to cheer on the runners, and pass out water and Gatorade. It's traditionally a fun way to start the day outside with friends and super heartwarming to see all the runners. What: Middlebury Maple Run Weybridge Elementary Water Station Where: Sheep Farm Road near Weybridge Street (where the red storage barns are, aka "Aid Station #2) When: Sunday, October 18, 8-10:30 am. Come for just the first or second half if you like. Sign up to let us know you'll be there! October 25th, 2 - 4:30, in the Fellowship Hall at the Weybridge Church: The Weybridge Community Group’s first ever puzzle swap and blind date puzzle challenge! Bring your puzzles to swap or come and take some home. The puzzle challenge is open to teams of three people with a total of ten teams. If you don’t have a team, we can match you up with one. Winning team members will each receive a $10.00 gift certificate to Cookie Love. This is a free event for everyone!
