T.H.E. Trail Guide

This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and reduce stress. Review Honesty as a family. Discuss the importance of being Honest and work together to create a family Honesty pledge. Create and decorate a sign together that explains what Honesty means in your family. Have each family member sign the pledge and choose a spot to display it. Refer back to the pledge as a reminder to be Honest and to celebrate when Honesty is practiced!

SBA testing for 3rd-5th grades will be May 15th-26th-It is highly recommended that you DO NOT plan appointments or vacation for your student at this time!

Student safety is our #1 priority and it starts the moment students arrive on campus. Our car loop and parking lot can get very busy and we ask that you partner with us to make it a safe environment for everyone. Please pull up as far as you can and wait until our designated arrival time to let students out. PLEASE DO NOT LET STUDENTS OUT OF THE CAR UNTIL 10:20 (M) or 8:45 (T-F)!!

We do not have adult supervision out front for students until 10:20am (Mondays) or 8:45am (Tuesdays- Fridays). We also ask that students are not walking through the parking lot without a parent/guardian accompanying them both before and after school.

We are noticing families are dropping students at the front and leaving before the designated arrival time. Please have your students remain in the car for their safety. Our supervision staff will be ready to receive students at the designated time. If your student is a walker, please remind them of our arrival times so they do not arrive before the morning bell.

The bell schedule is included below.

Mondays:

• 10:20am Arrival - students can arrive on campus and car loop drop-off begins
• 10:35am Student Day Begins
• 3:45pm Dismissal

Tuesday-Friday:

• 8:45am Arrival - students can arrive on campus and car loop drop-off begins
• 9:00am Student Day Begins
• 3:45pm Dismissal

Calling all future Trailblazers! Kindergarten enrollment for the 2023-24 school year begins

Feb. 7th. Our online enrollment process allows you to complete the process from anywhere at any time.

Immunizations

Washington state's school immunization law requires documentation of immunization at the time of school registration. A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS), signed by the parent/guardian, must be on file at the school on or before the student's first day of school. Learn more about immunizations.

Visit the Sumner Community Food Bank on Feb. 20 or 21 for free dental services, sponsored by the Pierce County Local Impact Network. There will be two events:

• Feb. 20: Free Kids Dental Day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free screenings and sealants.

• Feb. 21: Free Dental Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Urgent adult dental care, insurance sign-up assistance and free referrals.

Both events will be held at Sumner Community Food Bank, 15625 Main St. E. in Sumner.

FAMILY HAPPY HEART DANCE - THIS FRIDAY, 6:30-8pm, in the Launch Pad. Treats for purchase, DJ and crafts! All are invited to donate to our Teddy Bear donation drive to benefit pediatric patients at Bonney Lake Multicare ER.

INTERESTED IN JOINING OUR PTA LEADERSHIP TEAM? - Our PTA Nomination Committee is currently accepting candidate suggestions for our Executive Board team (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) for the 2023-24 school year. The deadline is Feb. 15. Voting for these elected positions will take place at the March 15 General Membership Meeting in the Launch pad, 6:30p.
