Just a reminder that North View Middle School students need to return their school device, along with the case, charger, and cord, on Wednesday, June 3rd. To help things go smoothly, please make sure the device is charged to at least 50% before turning it in. School staff will be checking everything that day. Don’t worry, a device will be ready for your student in the fall. Thank you for helping us keep our digital learning on track.

The end of the year is here, but we’ve still got a few fun and meaningful things lined up for our students! Here’s what they can look forward to as we wrap up the year with a strong (and joyful!) finish:

  • We will have our final Knight Pride RAFFLE WEEK of the 2025-26 school year to recognize students demonstrating Knight Pride throughout the week.
  • We will also have our final Spirit Week: Monday 6/1 is Music/Band Tee Day, Tuesday 6/2 is Dress for the Wrong Occasion, Wednesday 6/3 is Culture Day, Thursday 6/4 is Jersey/Team Gear Day, and Friday 6/5 is Knight Pride Day.
  • On Friday, June 5th, the last day of school, students will enjoy a Field Day during 5th and 6th hours.

To participate in Field Day, students must:

  • Be safe and peaceful in their words and actions.
  • Show respect for their peers, staff, and the school building.

Please partner with us for a successful last week of school:

  • Locker clean-out and Chromebook collection is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd. Please remind your student to take everything home that day.
  • On the last day of school, Friday, June 5th, lockers will not be accessible; students should leave backpacks and other belongings at home.

Ghetto Cowboy

In 6th-grade English classrooms, students read Ghetto Cowboy, exploring themes of identity, community, perseverance, and belonging. Through discussions, writing activities, and projects, students make connections between the characters’ experiences and their own lives while strengthening critical reading and analytical skills. The activities encouraged thoughtful conversation, empathy, and student voice as learners engaged with the text and its messages at year’s end.

Mobile App: Free Meals for Kids Mobile App: Free Meals for Kids

The Free Meals for Kids mobile app is a free, easy-to-use tool that helps middle school families find free meal sites for children 18 and under. Created by Hunger Impact Partners in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the app uses your location to show nearby spots, like schools, parks, libraries, and community centers, where your child can get a nutritious meal. Most sites don’t require registration, so your student can just show up during listed hours. The app also shares menus, updates, and helpful links to other food support programs like SNAP, WIC, and MFIP.

For families with middle schoolers, this app is especially helpful year-round. During the school year, it shows after-school meal programs and weekend food options like backpack programs. In the summer, it highlights free Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites where your student can get meals even when school is out. You’ll also find locations like Fare For All, which offer affordable groceries for your whole family. You can download the Free Meals for Kids app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
