Houser Family Year at a Glance Houser Family Year at a Glance

Based on feedback we received on the end of year parent and family survey, we have created a "Family Year at a Glance." Please understand that some of these event dates are subject to change, but we hope that having a calendar for the major events in the year will help with planning work schedules, childcare coverage, etc.

First Day Reminders First Day Reminders

Parents will be able to walk their children back to classes Wednesday, August 13-Friday, August 15. Please keep in mind you will enter through the front doors, however, so we can help direct where you need to go! The car rider line will be in full swing by Friday, so keep in mind you may have to wait to cross the line.

Beginning Monday, August 18, parents will not be allowed to walk children back to class unless that is their first day of school. Parents should plan to utilize the car rider line, or send students to school on the bus or via daycare. We do not allow parents to park in the parking lot and walk their children across the car rider line unless they need to speak with the front office.

Please be patient with our afternoon car rider line as we work to get to know student names and their respective cars! For the first week of school, we will begin car rider dismissal 15 minutes early (2:55) to help with timing and learning students' names. It is very important that whoever is picking up the student has a light blue car rider sign. If you do not have a car rider sign, please make a plan to get a car rider sign from the front office. We will be fully staffed at the car rider line to ensure we are loading students as safely and efficiently as possible. If your child is in a car seat and needs to be buckled, please pull up past the first cone or into a parking spot and buckle your child there.

For bus riders, we encourage you to be patient at your stops as you wait for your children. At the campus, we will be triple checking bus rider students to ensure we load them onto the correct bus, so it will take longer to load at the school. Many of our routes have new bus drivers, so it will take some time for them to learn the route fully. If you are a PK/K bus rider parent, you must have a yellow PK/K bus rider sign in order to get your child off of the bus. If you do not have a sign, please plan to come to Houser and request a PK/K bus rider sign. This will help the routes run more efficiently. You should expect delays, especially in the afternoons, for the first few days of school. Please continue to wait at the designated bus stop for your child. Download the Smart Tag Parent App so you can ensure your student was loaded onto the bus!

The cafeteria is closed to parents for lunches until Monday, August 25th. I will send out a reminder email when parents are able to come eat lunch with their students, and I will include lunch expectations for parents.

Registration/Enrollment Registration/Enrollment

Parents, you will hear from your child's homeroom teacher on August 6, 7, or 8th. If you do not, we are missing an important part of your child's enrollment or registration information.

You need to complete the "PowerSchool Enrollment" in order to be fully registered for the 2025-2026 school year. You should have received an email from "PowerSchool" with a "Snap Code." The snap code is a unique ID for each child's enrollment paperwork to ensure security. Once you log in to PowerSchool with the snap code, you will be able to verify your child's information including address, parents/guardians, emails, phone numbers, medical information, etc. All of this is required to be fully registered for the 2025-2026 school year.

If you are having trouble with the process, Houser will be open on Monday, August 11 from 8:30-12:30 and someone will be able to assist you. At Meet the Teacher Monday night, we will also have staff available to help complete the process in the cafeteria.

Important Information for Car Rider Line:

  • Please enter the car rider line from Oak Ridge School Road in two lanes and merge into one once you reach the parking lot. Please do not take a LEFT into the car rider line. All cars will need to enter from the right lane. Buses for some students will enter the car rider line and go straight. Do not follow them as you will get stuck behind them as they are unloading. See the map above for assistance.

A few reminders for beginning of the year:

  • Doors will open at 7:30 am. We will begin dismissal for the first week of school at 2:55 pm.
  • Parents are welcome to walk their students back to class Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the first week of school. I also encourage you to begin drop off in car rider line as soon as possible so they can get used to a new routine. We have teachers scattered throughout the building to ensure students make it to class.
  • Breakfast will be open until 7:55 am each day for students who need to eat at school. As a reminder, breakfast and lunch are not free for students this year. If you have not already done so, you will need to apply for free & reduced lunches this year. Applications can be found online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/.
  • Have your car rider sign visible so that the person calling names can see it easily. Holding it up or having it attached to the front visor is a great help. You can use a plastic pants hanger to hang it from your mirror.
  • If you do not have a sign, please have your id ready and pull into an available parking spot.
  • Please pull all the way up to the first empty cone! Your child will be delivered to your car.
  • If your child needs assistance buckling up, please move past the last cone in the car rider line before buckling your child so the line does not get backed up.
  • No one is allowed to walk up and retrieve their child for car rider dismissal. You will be asked to return to your car and enter the car rider line.
  • The first week or two the line will be extremely slow as the students are learning the dismissal process. Please be patient. We promise it will move more quickly as we learn the process.

Bus Transportation Bus Transportation

All Things Conroe ISD Bus Transportation

I wanted to pass along information from the transportation department so you are prepared for the upcoming school year. Here are a few of the highlights from the attached documents, but please take a moment to review it in it's entirety.

English Transportation Flyer

Spanish Transportation Flyer

To receive notifications about your child’s bus, including departure and bus stop arrival times, sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App by clicking this link: Smart Tag Parent App.

  • Students who were registered for transportation last year in CISD are automatically registered to ride the bus the following school year unless there is a change in their home address or they now attend a school that is within one mile of their home.

  • Students who are “new” to CISD or new bus riders must register for bus service online to be assigned to a bus. Please note that bus assignments can take up to five school days.
  • You can register your children for transportation services and look up bus stop information by visiting our website at conroeisd.net/department/transportation.

1. Click “Register for Transportation” to register your child.

2. Click “What Bus Do I Ride?” to look up your child’s bus route.

3. Click “Student Eligibility” and enter your child’s Student ID number and date of birth to obtain their bus information for your child’s campus.

Which Bus will My Student Ride?
After registering your child for bus service, go to the Transportation portal link at routeinfo.conroeisd.net to find the latest route information. An email and phone message will go out at the beginning of the year instructing parents to log into the Transportation portal link to find the most up-to-date route information. For safety reasons stops are not placed on dead-end streets, cul-de-sacs, or dirt roads.

What Should I Expect on the First Few Days of School?
Expect delays and routes to not run like clockwork for the first couple of days. There are many reasons for this including heavier traffic, drivers learning new routes, students learning new procedures and routines for loading and unloading buses. Rest assured, the safety and well-being of your children is always our number one concern.

Please note that route adjustments are made during the first few weeks of school and continue throughout the year due to changes in ridership. We ask for your patience and understanding. Registering your child for transportation early helps minimize these changes.

PreK and Kinder Students: Remember, all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students must be met at the bus stop by a parent/guardian, or designated individual named on the Transportation Supervision Waiver Form. To expedite the pickup process, ensure whoever is at the bus stop has the yellow PreK and Kinder bus rider sign.

SMART Tags

Conroe ISD uses the SMARTtag™ ID system to increase security and efficiency across our campuses.

All students will receive a new SMART tag™ ID for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note that these are crucial to bus safety, and should remain on your child's backpack for the entire school year. If your child changes backpacks during the year, the tag needs to be placed on their new backpack.

Learn how the system works and find FAQs at www.conroeisd.net/transportation/smart-tag/
