❓ R10 Most Asked Questions ❓ ❓ R10 Most Asked Questions ❓

❓ Where can students and staff find practice?

Go to: https://www.texasassessment.gov/educators.html

❓ Has the time limit for STAAR testing changed?

TEA is removing the maximum time allowed for STAAR assessments based on feedback from educators, parents, and students, as well as other changes to the program.

Districts will no longer have to stop students from testing after a four- or five-hour testing period. Students are expected to complete STAAR tests in about three hours. Any students who are still testing after four hours should be consolidated into a general testing area to continue testing. Students may continue testing until the end of the school day.

❓ How much is the Extended Constructed Response worth?

The ECR (Extended Constructed Response) is worth 10 points. There will be two graders with a maximum of 5 points each.

❓ What is the character count limit for the extended constructed response?

Reading SCR will be 475

Writing SCR will be 475

ECR will be 2300

❓ Who can make changes to AskTED?

The TED Administrator, you can find out who this is on AskTED. Search by District, Personnel, Include Other District Roles, TED Administrator

Charter Schools may email CharterAskTED@tea.texas.gov

❓ When will the information about the 2023 Accountability Reset and new targets come out? Fall 2022

❓ What is TPRS? Is it the same as TAPR?

The Texas Performance Reporting System (TPRS) integrates state and federal reporting requirements into a single reporting system that can be viewed at the campus, district, region, and state level. As the most comprehensive reporting system published by TEA, TPRS provides additional performance reports, results, and indicators for student groups not previously reported on state accountability data tables, the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), or the School Report Card. TPRS is the enhanced online version of TAPR. It has been recently updated with Remote vs. In-Person Data. TEAL Accountability application will show you unmasked data.

The TPRS Glossary provides definitions, describes methodologies, and lists sources for each tab in the TPRS system.

What’s New in Performance Reporting

A–F Accountability

Military Enlistment Data

Beginning with 2023 annual graduates, TEA will award College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) credit to graduates for whom the district submits the required military enlistment documentation. Districts must obtain a completed DD Form 4 “Enlistment/Reenlistment Document-Armed Forces of the United States” from a student who has enlisted. The DD Form 4 must be completed in full, including all required signatures by the student and the enlistment officer, and submitted via a secure upload process in the spring of 2024. An example of the DD Form 4 is available from the DoD site here.

To learn more, view this To the Administrator Address letter.

Proposed Industry-Based Certifications and Programs of Study Phase-In

While 2022 graduates who earned an IBC will credit CCMR for 2023 accountability ratings, the coupling of programs of study and IBCs may be phased in. As proposed, beginning with 2024 accountability ratings (2023 annual graduates), students who earn an IBC will have to meet additional course requirements to credit the CCMR components of the accountability system. An overview of this proposed phase-in is shown below. To view additional details, see the complete proposed phase-in timeline and this To the Administrator Addressed letter.

Proposed Requirements for CCMR Credit

2023 Graduates IBC (old and new lists) plus 1 course in aligned program of study¹

2024 Graduates IBC (old and new lists) plus Concentrator in aligned program of study2

2025 Graduates Only new IBC list plus Completer in aligned program of study3

2026 Graduates Only new IBC list plus Completer in aligned program of study3

1 One course that is level two or higher.

2 Two or more courses for at least two credits in the same program of study.

3 Three or more courses for four or more credits, including one level three or level four course in the same program of study.

Local Accountability System

Now is the perfect time to explore the local accountability system and how your district can develop a plan using your existing priorities and data! Districts may use the 2022–23 school year to develop a plan for approval and application to 2023 accountability year or develop a plan for application to the 2023–24 school year.

Districts wishing to learn more about the local accountability system and how to develop a district local accountability plan can participate in a 45-minute overview webinar with time for Q & A.

Assessment Scoring and Reporting

System Updates

The Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) has been updated and is now available. All users will be prompted to update their password on their first login for the 2022–23 school year.

To support the high volume of expected student file uploads this week, files with more than 200 students will be processed offline. The initial validation process may take up to three minutes in the user interface. Do not close the page or attempt to resubmit file uploads during the validation process.

After students have been uploaded to TIDE, there are two mechanisms for exporting student data in the View/Edit/Export Student task:

  • choose to have the file sent to the TIDE secure inbox (recommended for data sets larger than 10,000 student records), or
  • view the results in the user interface and then use the Export All options to save them to your device (exports will be limited to 10,000 student records).

For more information on uploading students, refer to the TIDE training module and the TIDE Enhancements training module in the Learning Management System (LMS).

STAAR Released Tests

PDF versions of the 2022 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) released tests for reading language arts (RLA), science, and social studies are available on the STAAR Released Test Questions. Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR)

TFAR is a free, optional platform used by educators to create, administer, analyze, and share formative assessments. Teachers will be able to analyze the results of these formative assessments to help inform instructional choices such as making immediate lesson plan adjustments or providing specific interventions for students at the level of individual standards.

TFAR is meant to supplement and support existing LEA resources and formative assessment practices. Assessments created in TFAR should be combined with a broader set of classroom formative practices that are part of a coherent instructional framework.

Additionally, formative assessments from select, high quality instructional materials (HQIM) with an open education license will be available to administer through the same online test administration system as assessments created using TFAR. Assessments from math and RLA curricula, grades K-5, will be prioritized, and other, select curricula’s assessments will be released on a rolling basis. More information about which HQIM products’ tests will be available in the online system and the release dates of these tests will be available in the fall.

Redesign of TELPAS Reading and Writing

Based on input from educators, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) reading and writing domains will be combined in an online test for students in grades 2–12 this year.

Because of this new standardized version of a writing assessment, districts will no longer need to holistically rate writing samples for students in grades 2–12.

Students in kindergarten and grade 1 will continue to be holistically rated in all four language domains—listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
