Monday starts our Get Movin' Fund Hub Fundraiser for our Band Program! Your child will learn how to create an individualized link with you during their band class.

When they get home, parents- please SHARE THEIR PERSONALIZED LINK ONLINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, THROUGH TEXTS, AND THROUGH EMAILS TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY. This is how we grow our band fund and also allows them access to our big fundraiser party coming up fast. The directors can see how many times their link has been shared online, through text, or through emails. Students with the most shares get to pie teachers in the face!!

Congratulations to this year's Otto Jazz members! Our next jam session will be this Friday, September 4th, from 4-5 in the band ensemble room. If you missed the audition, but are also interested in joining and play either Trombone, Trumpet, Guitar, or Vibraphone/Aux Perc, please email Mrs. Harper. It's not too late to join! 🤩

All assignments will always be posted in their band Google Classroom in the Classwork tab and official grades will always be in Skyward. Each week, all students will receive a new objective sheet. Objective sheets are due each Monday and must be signed by a parent.

🤩Please sign up for Private Lessons if at all possible.😍Our private lesson staff is second to none! This is the BEST way to start in band! It's more than worth it!

Beginners should be working on musictheory.net - note identification exercises, their Rhythm Packet, and Alphabet Master.

Tuners with pick-ups are required!

👕👕👕Parents- each year, all band students are required to purchase a band uniform t-shirt. We wear this to pep rallies, football games, concerts, and competitions. This year, shirts cost $13. cash or check made payable to Plano ISD. You may pay for your shirt anytime between 9.8 - 10.30. Thank you so much!

All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.

An email will be sent to the volunteer applicant communicating the status of their application and criminal history search within 3-5 business days of completing these steps. Volunteers will need to complete the online orientation as well to be eligible to volunteer.

We have several options to choose from, but we recommend Tarpley or Music and Arts as these stores offer fantastic service and visit Otto regularly for instrument repair.

Tarpley or Music & Arts can deliver your instrument and supplies from our list to Otto.

We recommend Dallas Percussion for all percussion students' supplies (https://www.denverpercussion.com/dallas.htm) and https://texasmarimbas.com/ for their rental.

Please ensure that your child has a fresh field trip form on file with us for this school year. It is linked here, but hard copies were given during the first week of school. Thank you!
