Home of the Raptors
Dear Rock Creek Families,
I hope you had a restful and safe spring break! Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended our recent Student-Led Conferences. It was wonderful to see students take an active role in sharing their learning and celebrating their progress. I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the families who generously donated food and support to help feed our teachers during the late conference evening. Your kindness and thoughtfulness were truly appreciated!
April is an important month for our 3rdโ5th grade students, as they participate in the (Idaho Standard Achievement Test) ISAT assessments. We encourage all students to do their best, while also remembering that โtheir bestโ looks different for everyone. Growth is personal, and each studentโs effort and progress is worth celebrating.
Our classrooms continue to be full of energy as students make meaningful progress academically and socially. This time of year is always exciting as growth really begins to shine!
As the weather warms up, please take a moment to review the student dress code with your students. Hats and hoods should be removed when inside the building. Following these guidelines helps us maintain a safe environment. Click HERE to review the Student Handbook and dress code.
Lastly, we are seeking feedback from families. The information gathered from our Parent Engagement Survey helps us make improvements here at Rock Creek. Click HERE to take the Parent Engagement Survey.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to an engaging and successful April at Rock Creek!
Sincerely,
Principal Lisa Gebbie
Parent Engagement Survey

School to Home Connection
Testing Season Is Here!
We have entered testing season, and our goal is to help students feel calm, confident, and ready to show what they know. Here are some simple ways to support your child at home:
Before the Test:
- Keep a positive tone. Remind your child that trying their best is what matters most.
- Stick to consistent routines: a good nightโs sleep, a balanced breakfast, and arriving on time all make a difference.
- Talk about past successes to help build confidence and reduce worry.
During the Test:
- Encourage your child to take their time, double-check their work, and move on if they get stuckโthen come back later.
- Practice simple calming strategies like slow breathing or positive self-talk (e.g., โI can do thisโ).
- Remind them to stay focused and do their personal best.
After the Test:
- Ask open-ended questions like, โWhat part felt easiest?โ or โWhat are you proud of?โ
- Highlight effort, persistence, and growth rather than focusing only on results.
- Keep things relaxed. Testing is just one part of their learning journey.
Most importantly: Tests are just a snapshot of learning. They donโt define your childโs abilities or potential.
One District, One Book
Each family has received a copy of "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo.
We encourage you to look, listen, and even follow along as Rock Creek teachers take turns reading each chapter.
i-Ready Summer Options
Keep Learning Going with i-Ready!
Great news! Your child can continue using i-Ready at home through the end of July. This is a great way to keep skills sharp over the summer and build confidence in both reading and math.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an interactive online program that adjusts to your childโs learning level, providing personalized lessons in reading and math based on their needs.
How to Use It at Home:
- Aim for about 20 minutes per day in reading and 20 minutes in math
- Encourage your child to stay consistent to keep skills fresh
- Celebrate progress and effort along the way
Even a short amount of daily practice can make a big difference in helping your child stay on track for next year.
If you need login information or help getting started, please reach out to your childโs teacher!
Attendance
Helpful Reminders
As we enter a busy and exciting time of year filled with field trips and important state testing, consistent attendance is more important than ever. Being present each day ensures students donโt miss out on key learning experiences and special events.
At the same time, illnesses are still circulating, so we encourage all students to practice good hygiene habits such as frequent handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and being mindful of personal health. These simple steps help keep our Rock Creek community healthy and learning together.
Remember, if your child does need to be absent and you visit a clinic, please provide a doctorโs note, as this allows the absence to be excused without negatively impacting attendance records. If a doctorโs visit does not occur, be sure to contact your childโs teacher to verify the absence. Please note that even verified absences still count toward the total number of days missed.
School Hours
Mondays (early release every Monday): 8:00 AM โ 2:00 PM
Tuesday โ Friday: 8:00 AM โ 3:00 PM
Breakfast opens at 7:35 AM daily, and playground supervision also begins at 7:35 AM.
Safety First: For your childโs safety, please donโt drop off before 7:35 AM, and be sure to pick up students promptly at dismissal time.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
We ๐ Volunteers!
Field trip season is coming up. Don't be left in the dust! Parents or family members who plan to volunteer, participate in Vertical Teaming, or chaperone field trips must complete a background check at least two weeks prior to the event.
We truly value our volunteers. Your support helps make Rock Creek a welcoming and successful place for students. Volunteers are welcome in the building, but please bring your ID, check in at the front office, and wear a visitor badge at all times to help us keep everyone safe.

Rock Creek Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures
To ensure everyoneโs safety and keep traffic flowing smoothly, please follow these procedures:
-
Pull forward as far as possible in the drop-off/pick-up lane. If a staff member signals you to move forward, please follow their direction.
-
Always use the crosswalk for your safety and to model safe behavior for students.
-
Do not let students exit from the left lane. This this is unsafe.
-
The side parking lot and bus lane are for buses only. Do not use this area for drop-off or pick-up.
-
Be respectful and courteous to others during busy times. Our children are watching!
-
Only park in handicap spaces if you have a valid permit. These spaces are reserved for those who truly need them.
-
Never leave your vehicle unattended in the drop-off lane (this has been happening a lot)
-
Parents must remain outside the gate. Youโre welcome to wait behind the fence and observe, but please do not enter the playground.
-
If someone else is dropping off or picking up your child, please share these procedures with them.
Thank you for helping us keep our school safe, positive, and welcoming for everyone. If you have any questions, please reach out to the school administration.
