Veterans Day at Anderson School
At Anderson, our Veterans Day Assembly centers around two important goals: to Educate and to Honor. We want to help our students learn about the sacrifices and service of our nationโs veterans, and we also want to provide them with a meaningful opportunity to honor the veterans in our school and community.
We will be observing Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11th. All veterans are warmly invited to join us at 9:15 a.m. for a reception breakfast, followed by our all-school assembly, where they will be our guests of honor.
We need your help spreading the word! If you have a veteran in your family or community who can attend, please complete the formed linked below to RSVP.
Please fill out one form for each veteran attending. You may also call the Anderson Main Office at (331) 228-3300 to RSVP or with any questions.
We also know that not every veteran in your family can attend our assembly. To ensure every student can still participate and honor the veterans they know, please click [HERE] to print and complete an โAnderson Veteran of Honorโ sheet. These will be proudly displayed in our hallways and featured during our assembly.
(No printer at home? No problem! Weโll be sending printed copies home with each student.)

Halloween Costume Parade and Classroom Parties
We recognize that not all families celebrate the Halloween tradition. Please know that our school organizes some fun and engaging activities and events in the Library for any students who choose not to participate in the costume parade or classroom parties. Simply email your child's teacher to let them know if you would like your child to enjoy the activities in the Library rather than the costume parade and classroom celebrations.
**COSTUME PARADE**
Join us on Friday, October 31st, from 2:20 to 2:40 PM for Anderson Schoolโs Halloween Costume Paradeโa fun-filled celebration of all things fall! If your child would like to participate, they are welcome to bring a simple costume to school. Teachers will provide time for students to change before the parade begins. Please ensure that costumes are easy for your child to put on by themselves and can fit comfortably through doorways. Large inflatable costumes are not permitted; save those for trick-or-treating at home. Also, please avoid any violent or frightening themesโno blood, guts, weapons, or scary woundsโas we want to be mindful of our younger students who may be sensitive to certain costumes. Students should not wear masks that cover their faces.
Parents, guardians, and grandparents are invited to join the fun! The parade will make its way outside to the back of the school, with cones marking the route. We look forward to seeing you there, ready for an overload of cuteness!
**CLASSROOM PARTIES**
After the parade, each classroom will celebrate the hard work students have put in since the start of the school year with a party on Friday, October 31st (approximately 2:40โ3:20 PM, though times may vary by grade level). Teachers may request parent volunteers to help plan, host, or assist during the event. Look for details from your childโs teacher regarding party plans. For safety and smooth dismissal, we strongly encourage all students to use their regular transportation home.
Room Parents who are assisting with the parties should not wear disguises that would make it difficult to recognize them as a safe person
Only Room Parents may attend the classroom parties and assist students.
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
- Please remember that all volunteers must bring a current driverโs license or state ID to comply with D303's security check procedures before entering the building.
- Only volunteers who have signed up with the teacher are permitted to attend the partyโthis is not an "open house" event.
- If you prefer that your child not participate in the costume parade or classroom party, simply inform their teacher. We will have a fun alternative activity available in the library for them.
We canโt wait for a day of fun, creativity, and community celebration!
