A Message from the Principal
I just wanted to pop in and say welcome back from Spring Break! We are excited for the warmer temperatures and sunshine that spring is surely to bring.
We recommend dressing students in layers in the coming weeks, a zip-up hoody they can easily take off throughout the day. Sometimes it doesn't warm all the way up until late in the afternoon, even on our nicest days! Also, thank you for making sure your students wear recess appropriate shoes each day. Its usually safest to make sure they have a strap on the back of their sandals, so they don't hurt their toes while running off their energy and wiggles on the playground.
It is also a good idea to pack a few extra masks, which most people are already doing, in student's backpacks. They might get a little sweaty throughout the day during gym and recess.
If your family happens to be impacted by COVID, please continue to let us know. You can call our main office or send an email to myself (mullinsj@gibdist.net), Mrs. Clark (clarkc@gibdist.net) and to your child's classroom teacher. This helps keeps everyone informed. We appreciate the patience and kindness that each family meets us with as we work through these situation. We know it can be stressful and inconvenient, we appreciate the team effort.
We are all looking forward to a great Spring!
My Best,
Mrs. Mullins
April is Autism Acceptance Month and Spirit Week
We at Hunter Elementary want to spread the acceptance of Autism to all of our students and families the month of April. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, and communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects an estimated 1 in 54 children in the United States today. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. The ways people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. We wanted to show our families and students love and support this month by learning more about Autism as well as participating in a fun Spirit Week!
