From the Desk of Principal Cherry

It is hard to believe this school year is coming to an end. We have had a great year and are looking forward to some fun end of the year activities before we break for the summer. We want to thank all of you and your children for a great year and look forward to the the start of a new year in August. Please continue to check you emails for information and updates.

Big Changes at West Next Year

Earlier this year, the Boise School District, along with students, parents, and staff began a comprehensive examination of our dress code policy. Included in this study were the school uniform practices at West and South Junior High Schools.

The results of the study indicated that, by reforming our approach to student dress, we will be able to accomplish three important goals:

  1. Preserve learning time

  2. Preserve the dignity of all students and staff

  3. Foster positive relationships with students, parents and staff

With this in mind, we have decided to remove the uniform requirements for West Junior High students beginning in the 2022 - 2023 school year.

The school district will make recommendations for a district dress code for next school year. We will provide more information about dress code for next year in the summer newsletter based on the recommendations.

Please be aware that our current uniform of black/khaki pants/shorts/skirts and a white or green polo, with West approved black hoodie or West approved quarter zip is still in effect until the end of this school year. Failure to comply with the current dress code/uniform policy will result in detention either at lunch or after school.

Thank You PTBC

We want to thank our PTBC and everyone who contributed to an amazing week of Staff Appreciation. We were greeted each day with presents in our mailboxes and treats in the faculty room. It was incredible the generosity and support from our community. Thank you again!

Congratulations

Congratulations to the following West students who were named as winners in a recent writing contest. There were over 1200 pieces submitted statewide.

cash or check made out to West JHS. Payments by credit card must be
made at the school.

The West Way The West Way

Poem about The West Way by West Student Tyson S

Mustang’s Calling

A Journey’s end.

Or a journey’s inception?

But this is no trend,

This is more than perception.

Our calling is here,

It’s time to act.

We are more than just a pact.

They’re at the front,

here to attend.

We perform our stunt

and ascend.

We’ll be there

For them.

Always fair

Because everyone’s a gem.

This isn’t just our way,

This is the West way.

Dedicated to all West Junior High students, teachers, and staff.
