Course Registration 2026-2027
Dubiski Career High School
It's Time to Complete Your Course Selections!
Planning for the 2026–2027 school year is finally here! Our course selection process kicks off with freshmen the week of January 12–16 and January 21. During this time, counselors will be visiting classrooms to meet with students, review their four-year plans, provide guidance on course options, and assist with submitting course selections for the upcoming school year.
Students and parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to have conversations together about future scheduling plans and to carefully consider courses for next year. Prior to meeting with their counselor, students should review this newsletter in its entirety to preview available course options and to know what to expect during their course selection meeting.
All information needed to successfully submit course requests for the 2026–2027 school year is outlined in this newsletter. Please be sure to READ carefully and FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS. Graduation requirements and additional planning resources are included to support thoughtful academic decision-making. This information is also available on the Dubiski website under the Counseling Services page > Newsletters.
We look forward to supporting our students as they plan for a successful year ahead!
Course Selection Meeting Schedule
Preparing for Your Course Selection Meeting
To make the most of your scheduled course selection meeting with your counselor, students should complete the following steps In Advance:
- Graduation Requirements: Familiarize yourself with what you need to graduate (see graphic below).
- 4-year plan: check your specific Program of Study to understand courses that are required and their sequence.
- GPISD Course Catalog: use to look up course descriptions.
- Dubiski Elective Course Options: see what electives will be offered next year.
- Course Selection Worksheet: use this draft to begin planning your courses. This worksheet is meant to help you organize your ideas and questions ahead of time. An official copy will be provided by your counselor during your meeting, which you will complete and submit at that time.
2. Weigh Your Options:
- Discuss: Talk with your teachers, family, and friends about your choices.
- Advanced Classes & Level: Think carefully about taking Advanced, AP, Dual Credit, and OnRamps classes. It is important to make sure these options align with your goals and capabilities, as it can be very difficult to change levels once the school year starts—even for students who are not passing the course.
- Consider Balance: Think about how your courses will fit with your extracurricular activities and other responsibilities.
3. Review your transcript: As students plan for the upcoming school year, it’s important to use your transcript to identify which courses are still needed. The transcript provides a complete record of courses taken, credits earned, and progress toward graduation requirements. Students can access their transcript through their GreenLight Locker (10-12 only), and it should be used as a key tool when selecting classes for next year to ensure you remain on track for graduation and your postsecondary goals. *All students will be provided a copy of their transcript during the course selection meeting.
Being prepared will allow for a more productive conversation and help ensure your course selections accurately reflect your goals for the 2026–2027 school year.
Graduation Requirements
College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR)
As students approach the transition from high school, it’s essential to be well-prepared for the many pathways that lie ahead—whether college, career, or military service. Graduation is an important milestone, but it’s just the beginning. The question we continue to ask is: Are our graduates truly ready for what comes next?
In Grand Prairie ISD, our goal is for all students to graduate CCMR Met, meaning they leave high school equipped with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to succeed beyond the classroom. College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) ensures students are prepared not only to graduate, but to confidently pursue postsecondary education, enter the workforce, or serve in the military.
Families and students are encouraged to explore the GPISD College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) website to learn more about:
-
What CCMR is and why it matters
-
The benefits of being CCMR Ready
-
How readiness is measured (including the many ways students can meet CCMR requirements)
-
How GPISD supports students in becoming college, career, and military ready
Together, we are committed to preparing every student for success—not just at graduation, but for life beyond high school.

Process For Requesting A Program of Study Change (Pathway Change)
Students who are interested in requesting a Program of Study (Pathway) change must complete a Program of Study Change Request Form. Forms are available in the Counseling Office and are also linked above for your convenience.
Students must carefully follow all steps outlined on the form and ensure the completed form is submitted to the Dean, Mrs. Stacy Parker Brown, located in the Main Office (Room B104).
Please note:
-
Submitting a request does not guarantee that a program change will be granted.
-
If your pathway change is approved, you will not have the option to change it back.
-
All changes are subject to program availability.
-
All forms must be submitted by March 13, 2026.
-
No program change requests will be accepted after this date.
Once the request has been received and reviewed, the Dean will communicate the approval or non-approval decision to the appropriate counselor. Students will then be notified of the decision via
