Final Weeks In Art

Thank you to all who came out to the art fair during our Family Night last night! It was wonderful to see everyone and show you what we've been doing all year.

For the remainder of the year, we'll be working on drawing skills in the primary grades. They love the mystery drawings, and Mrs. Turbes always gives us a good story to accompany our mystery drawings. The intermediate grades will be learning about artist Marlena Myles, tints & shades and making The Floor is Lava maps. Middle schoolers will be working on landscapes, photography and portraiture.

The Book Fair is Here!

It’s that most wonderful time of year again - Scholastic Book Fair! Each class had a chance to fill out their wish list and do some pre-shopping during their library class time. PreK-2nd grade students were lucky enough to have fourth and fifth grade buddies who helped them create their lists and spend some time reading with them. I love watching the interaction between our youngest students and our intermediate students who are so excited to share the love of reading with each other.

Songfest Rewind 2025

The end of the year is rapidly approaching, and with that Songfest is nearly here! This tradition we perform each year will be on May 9th at 2:00 in the gym. Doors open at 1:30. Every grade level will start by singing a song and then perform a dance. All of the music for this show is from songs or productions released in the years the students were born. Get ready for a pop-filled review of the 2010's! I hope you can join us.

Also, please note that our May Crowning service scheduled for next week has been postponed due to the ordination of our new Archbishop during this time. Keep a look out for information regarding this event and thanks for your flexibility as we welcome Archbishop-designate Michael McGovern to Omaha!

PE News

Throughout the school year 2nd through 8th grade have been completing a Timed-Lap Test, which is a single, 60-yard lap timed with a stopwatch. Students shaved an average 0.8 seconds off their original time, and resulted in 5.8% average growth! 6th-8th grade completed a Board Jump Test, jumping as far forward as possible. Students averaged an increase of 2.86 inches, and 4.38% of growth!

We are continuing our baseball/softball unit this week. All grade levels are demonstrating hitting a stationary ball off of a tee. 3rd through 8th are also hitting an underhand tossed and overhand pitch ball. While classes are combined to rehearse for Songfest, starting this week, students will compete in kickball, assuming weather coope

STEAM This Week

Here's a look at what's happening in technology classes this week:

  • 1st Grade: Get ready for some creative engineering! Students have brought in their favorite cereal boxes and are now in the process of designing and building marble mazes using straws and tape.

  • 2nd Grade: It's a whirlwind of activity in 2nd grade! Students are collaborating in groups, with some diving into the world of robotics by building and driving our Botzee robots – the energy is high! Others are flexing their creative writing muscles using the Book Creator app.

  • 3rd Grade: Sparks are flying in 3rd grade as students explore the fascinating world of circuitry using our E-Blox kits. These interactive components are proving to be a big hit and provide a fantastic hands-on introduction to electrical concepts.

  • 4th Grade: The innovation continues in 4th grade as they continue with their Little Bits kits, bringing their imaginative creations to life.

  • 5th Grade: It's all about robots and code in 5th grade! Students are actively working with their robotics kits, putting their coding skills to the test.

  • 6th Grade: The challenge is on in 6th grade as students tackle intriguing circuitry problems using their Snap Circuits.

  • 7th Grade: Get ready for some robot soccer! 7th graders are honing their robotics driving skills with an exciting soccer challenge.

  • 8th Grade: The coding journey continues for 8th grade as they further develop their skills with the Stembot robots.
