A Message from Principal Cutone
October 9, 2026
Dear Shark Caregivers,
I hope you are all having a wonderful week. As we wrap up another productive Friday, I want to share a few key updates with our community.
This week, with the assistance of the Harwich Fire and Police Departments, our school practiced our first Run, Hide, Fight drill of the year. I am pleased to share that we received a glowing report from our local first responders! They highlighted that our Sharks moved with an appropriately fast pace, remained calm and orderly, and were exceptionally responsive to staff direction throughout the exercise. Practice drills like these are just one vital component of our comprehensive school safety protocols, and we are proud of how seriously our students and staff approach them.
Thank you to all of our families for supporting Monomoy during today’s professional development day. While I fully recognize that school closures on a Friday can present scheduling challenges for families, we deeply appreciate the opportunity to pause, reflect, and collaborate with colleagues across the district and the broader Cape region to enhance our educational practices.
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy long weekend! We look forward to welcoming our Sharks back refreshed and ready to learn on Tuesday morning.
Warmly,
Christie
Congratulations, Charity!
Congratulations to the first Monomoy Staff Shoutout of this school year - Charity Rossetti! Charity is a member of the cafeteria team at Harwich Elementary and was nominated by a colleague, who wrote:
"Charity is one of the first faces when students get off the bus in the morning as they grab breakfast, and she greets every student with a genuine smile. She knows children's preferences, and even though there is a large group of students getting breakfast, she never makes anyone feel rushed. This compassion continues into lunch service as she makes every Shark feel valued and appreciated. Even in brief interactions, one can see that Charity values each and every student in the building. Charity's positivity extends to her interactions with coworkers throughout the building as she helps everyone find a smile."
Way to go, Charity!

Free school meals for all students
Monomoy Regional School District participates in the National School Lunch (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). As part of these programs, all schools offer healthy meals every school day at NO COST to the students, due to the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for school year 2026-2027. Students receive Breakfast and Lunch (1st meal) at school without having to pay a fee or submit a household application. Find more information on our Food Services website.

Social Emotional Learning Assessments
As noted in our School Handbooks, Monomoy Regional School District is committed to developing a comprehensive program that provides support and services that address the five core competencies of social and emotional learning (SEL). This goal has been developed and supported by members of the school community in alignment with the district's strategic plan. The five core competencies of SEL are: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. In order to gain a better understanding of the needs of our students, assessment tools are used to obtain baseline data regarding the social and emotional competencies of the students in grades 3-12, including the SELIS and SSIS. These questionnaires are administered a few times a school year to collect data and identify trends. Data from student responses are collected and analyzed to assist in developing a strategy for implementing SEL throughout the curriculum as well as analyzing trends throughout the student body and school year. If you would like to opt your child out of participating in these questionnaires, please email Melissa Maguire at mmaguire@monomoy.edu by October 1, or within 30 days of enrollment.
It's Hispanic Heritage Month! National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15 to recognize the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
