K8 Community Memo

Tomorrow, we begin a new school year together!

The night before the first day often brings a wonderful mix of emotions—excitement, anticipation, curiosity, and perhaps a few butterflies. Whether your child is taking their very first steps into our school, returning to familiar classrooms, or beginning their final year with us, we are ready to welcome them with joy.

Our theme for this school year is Belonging.

Belonging means more than simply being present. It means feeling known, valued, supported, and connected. It means knowing that your voice matters, your unique gifts strengthen our community, and there is a place here for you. Throughout the year, we will encourage our students to build meaningful relationships, include others, celebrate differences, and help create a school where every person can confidently say, “I belong.”

As a K–8 community, we have the special privilege of watching children grow through many important stages. Our youngest learners look up to our older students, while our older students have opportunities to lead with kindness and compassion. Every student and family contributes something essential to who we are, and we are grateful to begin this new chapter together.

Tonight, please remind your children that they do not need to have everything figured out on the first day. They simply need to arrive as themselves, ready to learn, connect, and grow. Our faculty and staff are excited to greet them and help make their transition a positive one.

Thank you for your partnership, trust, and commitment to our community. Here’s to a memorable first day and a school year filled with learning, friendship, courage, and belonging.

Each year, our First Day Packet helps us update student and family information, collect important permission forms, and gather information required for district and state reporting. Parents and guardians must complete a packet for every student enrolled in the Mary Walker School District.

To access the First Day Packet:

1. Visit marywalker.org.
   
   
2. On the home page, click Skyward Access, located just below the picture of the school.
   
   
3. Sign in using your Skyward username and password.
   - Your username is the first five letters of your first name followed by the first five letters of your last name.
   
   -If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot your Username/Password?" link located below the sign-in button and follow the instructions.
   
   
4. After signing in, you will see a message that says:
   "First Day Packet Information is now open until 09/30/2026."
   
   
5. Click the blue link that says "Go to First Day Packet Information for (Student's Name)."
   
   
6. Complete the packet for that student.

If you have more than one student enrolled in the Mary Walker School District, you will need to complete the First Day Packet for each student.

Completing the First Day Packet helps ensure that your student's contact information, emergency contacts, medical information, and required permissions are up to date.
