Young Author Spotlight: Aveline and The Little Hazelnut

We are thrilled to celebrate one of our own young authors, Aveline, a third grader at Clinton-Massie Elementary, who recently released her first book, The Little Hazelnut, on her 9th birthday, March 30th!

Aveline not only wrote The Little Hazelnut but also designed it herself, bringing her imaginative story to life in a way that is truly her own.

When she’s not writing stories, she loves practicing martial arts, making art, crafting, and junk journaling. She’s also an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her pets. Aveline loves playing with her friends—especially Axel, Peeps, and Kennedy—who share in her many imaginative adventures.

In The Little Hazelnut, readers are invited on a heartwarming journey with new friends Hazelnut and Waffle as they set out to help a very sad Strawberry. When Strawberry’s favorite paintbrush goes missing, the trio embarks on an adventure filled with friendship, creativity, and a few surprises—like the delightful sneak appearances of Gerald the caterpillar!

With its charming characters and engaging storyline, The Little Hazelnut is a fun and inspiring read that reminds us all of the magic of helping others and never giving up on creating something wonderful.

You can purchase a copy of the book on Amazon. You can meet Aveline in person at the Clinton-Massie Branch Library May 16th for a book signing.

May 2025 Upcoming Levy May 2025 Upcoming Levy

Clinton-Massie Local Schools will again be seeking a 1% earned income tax levy aimed at enhancing the quality of education for our students and securing the future of our school district. Due to the failures in 2024, we have been placed in Fiscal Precaution once again due to a low cash balance at the end of next year and a negative cash balance at the end of the 26-27 school year. This requires us to submit a Board-approved Written Plan to ODEW which we did at the end of February. The plan included using Reduction-In-Force of 5 teachers resulting in no specials in the elementary and no more middle & high school choir for the 2025-26 school year. If the levy passes in May 2025, we will receive approximately $200,000 in April of 2026. That means those reductions will stay in place for the 2025-26 school year regardless. We will evaluate our finances during that year and seek feedback from our stakeholders to determine what the 2026-27 school year will look like.

Your involvement is crucial as we work together for the betterment of our students and community. We remain committed to our students and will work tirelessly to minimize disruptions to their education. Our goal is to ensure that every child has access to quality learning experiences, and we will continue evaluating all of our options on how best to do this. We encourage open dialogue within our community to discuss how we can collectively support our schools and students. For more information about the levy and its implications, please visit our website at www.cmfalcons.org/levy.
