Principal's Corner Principal's Corner

As we approach the finish line of the 2024–25 school year, it’s hard to believe another year has already come and gone. This will be our final newsletter until September.

As we wrap up the year, we want to thank our students and families for a wonderful year. Your ongoing support over the past 10 months has been truly appreciated. It takes a village to raise children, and we’re grateful to work alongside such caring and supportive families. Whether it’s ensuring regular attendance, helping with homework, coaching, volunteering for school activities such as hot lunch, or just keeping the lines of communication open, your partnership means a great deal to us.

We would also like to recognize our School Council. This dedicated group does so much for our school community each year. From providing financial support—such as the recent purchase of a new class set of Chromebooks—to volunteering at events, their time and effort are invaluable. We simply couldn’t offer the same level of programming and student opportunities without them.

Lastly, I would like to express thanks for our Daysland School Staff. They work tirelessly to make Daysland School a welcoming, inclusive place where students can learn and grow. We’re fortunate to have such dedicated, passionate adults in our building. Thank you for everything you do.

As shared earlier this week in our Staffing Update, the end of the school year also brings some changes. Here is a quick overview of what was communicated earlier, as well as introducing some very recent hires:

  • Mrs. Lang has accepted a position in Camrose. We are so grateful for her dedication to teaching Grade 1 at our school. Her kind, welcoming presence and commitment to building strong literacy and numeracy foundations will be missed.

  • Mr. Charchun is also moving on to a new role in Camrose. Over the past year, he taught a wide range of subjects—from Physics 20 to Industrial Arts to Grade 4 homeroom. His flexibility and ability to build relationships across grades made a big impact. We’re happy to have been part of the beginning of what will surely be an outstanding teaching career.

We’re pleased to be welcoming both familiar and new faces to our team:

  • Mrs. Kierstan Reber, who previously taught Grade 1, will be returning to that role to replace Mrs. Lang.

  • Miss Alexis Pfeffer, with experience in both Kindergarten and Grade 1, will step into the Grade 4 homeroom position.

  • Mrs. Jennifer Schmidt, formerly with Sparling School in Camrose, will be joining us as an Educational Assistant, working alongside Mrs. Tanton in Kindergarten.

  • Miss Kessler Freadrich will also join our EA team. She will ride the CASA bus daily and work with students across K–12.

We’re excited to welcome them to our staff.

If you have any questions before the end of the school year, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. Should anything come up over the summer, feel free to email me directly—I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

On behalf of all of us at Daysland School, I wish you a restful, relaxing, and safe summer. We look forward to welcoming our students back on September 2nd for another exciting year of learning and growth.
