Hairgrove Artists are BUILDING ideas across generations!

Our talented Dolphin artists have been invited to continue the collaborative tradition between our elementary, middle, and high school artists in a feeder pattern art show! The theme this year is Blueprints of Imagination, where students will create an original imaginative structure inspired by their interests (foods, sports, classes, etc.), nature, community, and more. Twenty pieces of Hairgrove student art will be selected and passed along to Truitt and Labay Middle School artists, who will add their own creative interpretations and evolve the original artwork. From there, Cy-Falls High School artists will use both the elementary and middle school pieces to inspire an entirely new composition and tell the story—all while keeping a common creative theme of Blueprints of Imagination.

At the end of March 2027, all three artworks will come together in one exciting exhibition, where the artists will have the chance to meet and celebrate their collaborative journey. We can’t wait to see our Hairgrove Dolphins build their ideas—more details coming soon!

Hello, Hairgrove Family and Friends!

Fall is here and we are falling in love with music! Music class is so much fun as many of our students have taken on different jobs in the music room to help music class run smoothly. It’s my favorite to watch each student take ownership and do their part to help us have the BEST music class!

We are diving into learning musical concepts as Kindergarten and 1st grade learn about our 5 voices. 2nd grade is discovering rhythm while 4th and 5th grade are reviewing melody and playing the xylophones. 3rd grade is very busy getting ready for their upcoming music program!

Upcoming Events:

All 3rd Grade students will be performing in their 3rd grade music program “Heroes: Honoring Our Veterans and Athletes Because they are Heroes on and off the field” on Thursday, November 12th at 6:00 PM. Please look for more information in your student’s folders as papers will be coming home to explain all of the details sometime this month!

4th and 5th Grade students in choir this fall have signed permission from you to meet every Friday morning at 7:00 AM to practice which starts this month. Please be sure to line up in the car rider line as instructed on the map you received from your student in their Thursday folder that way all our large, amazing choir arrives to practice safely.

Please reach out to me on Parent Square or email at courtney.cruz@cfisd.net if you have any questions.

Take care!

Mrs. Courtney Cruz

Greetings from the Gym

Fall is approaching and that means Football Season! Students will be learning Football terms and playing lead-up games that give them an opportunity to enjoy the sport in a fun and safe way in the gym. We have also introduced a new piece of equipment called a Spinjammer to the kindergarten which will be used in stations once all equipment has been introduced. It looks like a frisbee, but it has a special notch for the finger on the bottom side turning it into a spinning top! Kids are following along with a video that shows them how to do new tricks, they are having a blast!

Please remember to let your students wear shoes (tennis shoes) on their PE days to keep their feet safe, and please practice tying shoe laces with your child if their shoes have string laces and not Velcro. This is a really tricky skill but it teaches how to follow a pattern to reach a goal and fine motor dexterity. Plus, it’s great bonding time for you and your little student!

Thank you!

Coach Dyson

News from the Hairgrove Library

Did you know that students who read for 15 or more minutes each day score 30% higher on reading comprehension tests, and children who read for fun outside of school score 28% higher in math?

That’s why we strongly encourage our students to check out library books and read for fun every day!

We’re so proud of our Hairgrove readers! In September alone, nearly 2,000 books were checked out by Hairgrove students! Let’s keep the reading momentum going!
