MTSS Next Steps- Tier 2 RTI
Tier 2 Intervention groups during RTI block for students should be happening by October 21.
eCST service tracking for any student who, based on the data reviewed, will be pulled for RTI Tier 2 intervention during your Math and/or ELAR block. By now, you should have your Tier 2 students identified for Math and ELAR. The school district expects to be seeing RTI Tier 2 small group instruction beginning now and continued throughout the school year during your RTI times. Our Mills goal is to get RTI blocks going with fidelity no later than October 21.
Note to include in eCST service tracking:
Based on the review of MAP Growth beginning-of-year assessment data (insert either Math or Reading), the student will receive Tier 2 RTI instruction during the class's RTI block, following the district approved resource of (insert UFLI, Hands2Mind, Bridges, ESTAR, District Approved HMH Comprehension lessons). Goals and progress monitoring will be entered into eCST for the student. Parents/caregivers have been notified. If the student fails to respond to given interventions, a CST meeting will be scheduled with campus CST chair.
Notification for parents/caregivers:
Please make sure to communicate with parents/caregivers during Fall conferences this month if you are pulling the student for Tier 2 intervention in Math and/or ELAR. If the student has an IEP and is also pulled for Tier 2 intervention, please also ensure that the student's case manager is aware and working collaboratively/creatively with you to support needs.

How to Enter a Behavior Plan in eCST for Tier 2 students:
Jennifer Beeler is our campus MTSS coach this year. I've asked her to come out and stay all day October 30 and October 31. She can help with creating CST goals and Progress Monitoring. She will drop into your PLC time and be in the conference room.
Reminder: Submitting Preassessments (Due Oct 14)
Pre-Assessments are due October 14.
See message below from Inez Gibbs, our Ppft Campus Contact:
You will administer an approved district preassessment or teacher created assessment to your students and record how they did. If you are using a teacher created assessment, you must get it approved by an administer before administering it to your students. There are many district-approved assessments on the PPFT Toolkit website.
The submission process is different than previous years. You will now have to keep track of your student's data on a district provided google spreadsheet. You can watch the video on how to select your assessment, record your student's data and submit on HCP via THIS VIDEO or click on the PPFT Toolkit website to get you started step by step. The video is super helpful and shows you exactly what to do.
If you need support on how to do this, I or Bethany are available to assist you. We are available any time after school. 🙂 Please do not hesitate to stop by any of our classrooms if you need help.

Safety on Campus
In light of the recent tragic school shooting in Georgia, we must continue to be as vigilant as ever with safety on campus.
Continued reminders:
1. Doors are shut and locked at all times. No exceptions. No propped door ever.
2. NEVER allow students to open classroom doors for people they don't know.
3. Active supervision. Make sure every single child under your wing is accounted for. Walk behind the class or beside the class so you can keep watchful eyes.
4. Playground and recess- all adults spread out to ensure we have eyes on all play areas.
5. See something, say something! Report all suspicious activity to admin and to the office. Never allow an individual to roam hallways without a visitors sticker.
