October 27th-31st Counselor went into 11th grade US History classes to deliver a guidance lesson on post secondary readiness. The lesson covered information on CCMR, graduation requirements, and future planning.
Sophomore Individual Planning Conferences
October 20th-24th Counselors met one on one with sophomores to discuss credits, CCMR, and post secondary options.
Decision of Respect
October 3rd, counselors hosted a pop up focused on bully prevention. Students were given the opportunity to sign a hand that said 'Raider Say No To Bullying'. Then students were able to participate in games to build a sense of unity on campus.
Blue Up for Bully Prevention
October 6th was World Day of Bully Prevention. Students and staff were encouraged to wear blue to show support for ending bullying. Counselors passed out stickers to students to send a message of kindness, inclusion, and respect.
Digital Citizenship Week
October 13th-17th was digital citizenship week. Counselors hosted a pop up where students found words in a word search related to being a good digital citizen.
Red Ribbon Week
October 27-31 was Red Ribbon Week. School unity could be seen in promoting the drug free message. Activities hosted by various student organizations on campus included dress up days, door decorating contest, announcements, promotional posters, and passing out red ribbons.
Teacher Mindful Escape
October 17 counselors offered an opportunity for teachers to practice mindfulness during their lunch period. Staff took advantage of the time to get out of the classroom and reset for the new grading cycle.
Counseling Advisory Committee
October 16 we hosted our first Counseling Advisory Committee where we were able to talk with stakeholders about our program. The discussions revolved around trends seen on campus and how the activities we do as counselors can best support the campus. It was great to see the amazing collaboration that occurred between the staff, students, parents, counselors, and community members. We appreciate all who were able to give their time to help make our program more impactful for all students.
College Connections Visit
Wednesday, October 22, representatives from Alamo Colleges met with our seniors who signed up to assist them in their application process. They will be back on November 12 for the next step in the process.
Free College Application Week
Many students took advantage of free application week, October 13th-19th. UT San Antonio received a record-breaking 16,000 applications during Free College Application Week! Itβs an incredible milestone for college access, and weβre thrilled to see so many students taking that step toward higher education.
