Dear Leeds Elementary Families and Friends,
As we wrap up 2023 and grow closer to the winter break, we would like to take a moment to thank all those help make Leeds Elementary School an amazing place to be every day. Our collective efforts to build an amazing educational experience for the students are filled with nothing but passion and commitment to creating a positive influence in the future for all.
Parents and families, you play such an important role in what we hope to accomplish on behalf of our Leeds Elementary students. Thank you for trusting us with your most precious gifts-- we are truly grateful for each and every one of them.
A reminder as we approach the month of December:
Our next music concerts are coming right around the corner on Friday, December 8th for 1st and 3rd graders! We ask that any family intending to take their student(s) and siblings home with them after the concert to please notify their classroom teacher by phone or email 24 hours prior to the concert date. They will be making a list of students leaving early, so they can have their things ready and with them after the concert to avoid any chaos or confusion.
In the spirit of this holiday season, it is our wish that each of you receive and return the blessings that make these upcoming days so special. To the parents, families, and friends of the Leeds Elementary School community, please have a safe and joyous holiday season!

Counselor Corner
Hello Future Stars Families!
I hope everyone has had a great month; winter is just around the corner! This month in guidance we learned about resolving conflicts. In Kindergarten, first, and second grades, we read a story about the Tattle Snake and the Get Help Goat. Tattle Snake needed to learn how to keep some things to himself and the Get Help Goat knew just how to help! We discussed scenarios to help us to remember when to get help and when we should keep what we saw to ourselves. In third through fifth grade, we walked through the steps of conflict resolution using a pineapple and the acronym "SWEET." This new learning should help us to be able to solve conflicts with our peers at school and maybe even our siblings at home!
The month of December will go by so fast! We can't wait to celebrate with some winter themed dress-up days and class parties!
As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us! We have so much fun here at Leeds!
Mrs. Roskilly

Communication and Preparedness
Student and staff safety is of paramount importance in the Sioux City Community School District. For this reason, the District exercises a host of crisis prevention and planning tactics. Should an emergency occur, the school notifies you through our Blackboard phone system. In an emergency, the system calls every phone number associated with your child in order to reach you. The message will give you details about the emergency and provide directions on when/where to pick up your child if the normal school day is altered. Learn more about school safety.
