Reminders:
Tryouts and Team Placement
All Piedmont High School Athletic Teams will use up to the first 10 days of a season to determine the appropriate team placement based on the following:
Sport specific performance during practices/tryouts
Attendance at practices/tryouts
Coachability during practices/tryouts
Availability during the season
Number of athletes coming out for the sport that season
Cut Policy:
The Piedmont High School Athletic Department is sensitive to the needs of all student-athletes during the tryout period. It is Piedmont High School’s desire to see that as many student-athletes as possible are involved in the athletic program throughout the school year. Unfortunately, due to limitations in team size for certain sports, cuts must be made to accommodate team needs.
Team Selection:
The selection of athletes for a team shall be without prejudice.
To the extent possible, selection should be done by neutral parties and “blind” to the extent possible.
Multi Sport Athletes:
A student athlete wishing to try out for a team in the next athletic season must get approval from their current team's head coach prior to trying out.
If approval is not granted the student athlete will be provided with an equitable opportunity to try out once their current season is complete. This try out may take place during a Varsity, JV, or Freshman level practice determined by the program head coach.

Piedmont Mountain Bike Club
The Piedmont High School Mountain Bike Team is kicking off our pre-season Try It Out Rides, open to all current and prospective riders, with no experience or commitment required. We'd love your help getting the word out to students. Loaner bikes are available.
All rides are informal, coach-supervised rides that let students meet the team and try mountain biking before official NorCal League sign-ups open in mid-November. All riders sign a waiver via our RSVP form before participating. All rides are run in accordance with NorCal League guidelines, including athlete/coach ratios.

The stipends each coach receives is the only payment they receive for their commitment and time spent coaching our student athletes. We ask that each student athlete donate $400 per sport each year in order to pay for our amazing coaches.
Our goal for 2026/2027 is have 100% of our teams reach 100% participation.
Any program that reaches 100% participation within the 1st month of their season will receive branded swag.
