Greetings!
Greetings Anthony Families!
As we reach the mid-point of the term, we want to thank everyone who attended student-parent-teacher conferences recently. It was wonderful connecting with so many of you! Strong family-school partnerships are essential to our studentsโ success, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with you throughout the year.
Please remember that you don't need to wait for conferences to check inโyou are welcome to reach out to teachers anytime with questions, updates, or concerns.
We wish all of our families a restful and enjoyable MEA break, and we look forward to seeing students back in school on Monday, October 19th!
7th & 8th Grade Rotation Classes
Rotation Classes Switch on Thursday, October 22
All 7th and 8th grade students will take all 6 rotation classes: Design, Robotics, Health/Fitness, P.E., Art, and Explore (unless they are enrolled in AVID, a pull-out support class, etc. Each class โrotatesโ every 28 school days.
Anthony Student Shout-Out
We know our students do amazing things outside of school, and we want to celebrate their successes! Use this form to tell us about any accomplishments or activities your student is proud of so we can give them the recognition they deserve. Example: Earned a black belt in Taekwondo, performed in a community theater production, or completed a 5K charity run!
6th Grade Language & Literature
Why do we tell stories?
This year, our sixth graders will be experiencing a unit exploring Myths and Folktales. We are looking at what these stories have in common and how they connect with our human experience. We are starting with a couple of Indigenous origin stories, and then continuing with a variety of stories from around the world.
Eventually, we will be diving into the โHeroโs Journeyโ and looking for patterns found in adventure stories across time and place.
Finally, we will be concluding the unit by writing our own myth, legend, folktale, or fable.
Check in with your 6th grader and find how they are progressing on this epic journey of literature!
Fitness Class News
I can't believe how fast time goes by. In Fitness class we are starting our second round of fitness testing that most students did earlier this year. The goal is to continue growing and getting better each day. Hopefully we're getting bigger, stronger, and faster. They continue building a strong and healthy future. I really enjoyed spending time with all the students. Thank you for having me!
