What Does Patriotism Mean to Me?
by Eliniah Fitchett
What does patriotism mean to me? Patriotism means loving and caring for your country, being loyal, protecting it, and ensuring its strength for future generations. It’s important because it helps our country grow, there are many ways we can show our love for it.
One of the most important ways to show patriotism is by voting. When we vote, we decide who will lead our country. This allows us to have a say in what happens. Voting is a big way to protect our rights. It allows us to choose policies that protect our rights. Voting is a powerful way to ensure our country stays on the right path and has a good future. It’s a freedom we should never take for granted.
Another way to show patriotism is by serving in the military. My great-grandpa Bear fought in the war and served his country proudly. He earned medals for his bravery. Those medals inspire me every day to show patriotism. Serving in the military is a huge act of loyalty, and it shows a deep love for our country. We can also support veterans by helping them find shelter or get the care they need. When we take care and appreciate those who served, we make our country stronger.
Finally, helping your community is a powerful way to show patriotism. When we help those around us, we make our neighborhoods better, and so we make our country stronger. It also shows you care, and that’s what patriotism is. Small acts of kindness can inspire others to help, too. That creates a ripple effect that improves everyone’s lives.
In conclusion, patriotism is about actions, not just words. By voting, supporting veterans, and helping our communities, we show our love for our country and make it a better place.
Cooking up Confidence Project
Hi Dryden Family,
I want to make sure my students have exactly what they need to succeed, so I've created a project through DonorsChoose, the nonprofit classroom funding site for public school teachers. Early contributions are critical, and any amount helps. Thank you so much for taking a look and considering a donation. I am so excited to bring this project to life! Thank you for considering a gift to my class!

The Dryden Boys Varsity Bowling Team lost to Bay City All Saints, 27-3, on February 4.
The Dryden bowling team had an impressive showing at the Singles Conference Tournament held at Hideaway Lanes. In the boys' division, Bishop Wilson achieved a personal best with a 166 in qualifying. Brendan Peter, Sean Finnigan, and Dylan Lasher all qualified in the top 16 in a competitive field of 37 bowlers. Each of them won their first match, making it to the final 8, where they competed alongside some of the best bowlers in the conference before being eliminated. Great bowling, gentlemen!
In the girls' division, Kayla Baughman, Brooke Dombrowski, Mikayla Fleming, and Chloe DeLoy all qualified in the top 16 out of 23 competitors. Brooke Dombrowski and Chloe DeLoy faced off in the first round, with Brooke delivering a turkey in the second game and making it a close match. However, Chloe pulled away late to advance to the round of 8. Mikayla Fleming also made it to the round of 8, where she eventually advanced to the final 4.
