Crestwood Family Connection
May 2026
THANK YOU!
Dear Crestwood Families,
Last week was Staff Appreciation Week, and WOW—we were truly spoiled! We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTA for all of the thoughtful treats in our mailboxes and the delicious lunches in the staff lounge.
Thank you also to all of the families and students who shared cards, kind words, and generous gifts. Your thoughtfulness meant so much to us, and we truly felt the love throughout the week.
With gratitude,
The Crestwood Elementary Staff

Crestwood Music Concerts/Performances
I am excited to announce our official and finalized concert schedule! This is been in the works for a while now, and I thank you so much for your patience as we ironed out all the wrinkles. I am including the entire concert schedule to make things easier for parents with multiple kids. In chronological order -
May 15th - 5:30 pm arrival, 6:00 pm start time
- Kindergarten Musical - Cookies the Musical!
May 20th - 5:30 pm arrival, 6:00 pm start time
- 1st Grade and 2nd Grade - The Best Pet Show Ever
June 11th - 5:30 pm arrival, 6:00 pm start time
- 4th and 5th Grade performance - 4th Grade Recorders - 5th Grade Ukuleles - 4th and 5th Grade Choir
All concerts and performances will be at Crestwood Elementary School in the Gym (using our stage). Call time (meaning what time to arrive at the school) will be 5:30 each time, with a 6:00 performance start time. All concerts will take around 30-45 minutes to complete, and we will be requesting assistance with cleanup afterwards. All family and guests are welcome to attend! Concert attire will be communicated in advance. If your student is playing a particular instrument or needs particular equipment, please look for a follow-up message from me momentarily.
Please send along any questions you may have! Looking forward to Crestwood concert season!

Pod Patrol Newsletter Information
Just a quick reminder about Pod Patrol — a fun and meaningful way to support our students!
Pod Patrol brings positive adult role models — especially male mentors — into our school to encourage, support, and connect with students. Research shows that strong male role models help students thrive, and even a few hours a year can make a big difference. Women volunteers are always welcome too!
Want to join? Sign up using the Pod Patrol link below or call our front office at 253-891-4550. Not cleared yet? The front office can help you get set up quickly.
We’d love to have you be part of this amazing program!
Volunteers
Volunteering helps create a supportive and welcoming environment in our schools. Whether you're a member of the community wanting to give back, a parent eager to assist in the classroom, or a potential volunteer coach, the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District welcomes your support!
We have recently updated our volunteer clearance process to make it more convenient, efficient and robust. The safety of our students is our number one priority, and we appreciate you taking the time to submit to a background check.
Our clearance plan includes:
- SSN Trace: Verifies your Social Security Number and address history to confirm your identity.
- National Criminal Database Search: Conducts a search of national and state criminal records, including the sex offender registry.
- Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) Check: Reviews driving records to identify any qualifying candidates for positions requiring driving.
- Criminal Record History: A broader check of federal, state, and county criminal records beyond the initial national database search.
Each of our schools are able to clear volunteers. You will need to have a social security number, and a valid email address. Let your child's teacher know you are interested in volunteering. Our staff at the building will then send you the link to process your application. The process takes just a few minutes, and unless there is clarification needed, you will be cleared to volunteer within about 15 minutes.
If you do not have a social security number, we may still be able to clear you to volunteer, but we have to do so in the Human Resources Department at Central Office. Also, if there are any questions around your submission, or if we just need clarification, you will be referred to our Human Resources Department.
If you are interested in volunteering in our building, please contact cwe@sumnersd.org to start the process!
Thanks for being a part of what makes our school communities great!
