Surfin’ at Southeastern Kickoff!
We had a great day at our Surfin’ at Southeastern kickoff assembly! Students learned all about our upcoming fundraiser and are excited to get started. Fundraiser packets will be coming home with students today, so be sure to check backpacks! Packets are due back on September 18th to be eligible for prizes. The Surfin at Southeastern Event will take place on Friday, September 25th.
We also celebrated our first Surfers of the Week! 🏄♀️🏄♂️ Each week, teachers select students who have gone above and beyond and demonstrated exceptional effort, character, and behavior. We are so proud of our first group of Surfers of the Week!
No School Reminder: There will be no school this Friday or Monday in observance of Labor Day weekend. We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing long weekend!
Fall Cookout – Friday, September 11
Next Friday is our annual Fall Cookout! Parents are invited to join us for lunch and enjoy a meal with their child. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

Our PTO is hosting our Book Fair next week, and we are so excited to help our students find some great new books! 📖❤️
The Book Fair will be open:
- Tuesday–Thursday: 8:00–11:00 AM
- Thursday: After school from 3:00–4:00 PM
- Friday: Open all day during our Fall Cookout!
Parents are welcome to stop in and shop with their children. We hope you’ll take some time to visit the Book Fair and help encourage a love of reading!

WHAT TO KNOW FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTION
During the November 3, 2026 election, our community will vote on a school bond proposal for Hastings Area School System. If approved by voters, this bond would provide $24,800,000 for district-wide improvements with an estimated zero tax rate increase over the current rate. Y on the Fly is staffed by YMCA employees and provides a great opportunity for our students.
Important reminder: The office must know if your child is staying for Y on the Fly. Students staying will wait outside by the Y on the Fly sign until they are checked in by YMCA staff.
