Weekly Notes from the Principal

First of all, I would like to say our faculty, staff, and students have been very welcoming and I have truly enjoyed these first couple of weeks at Erwin Middle School.

As you know, Erwin Middle School is a United Way Community School. As a model school for the state, we have the opportunity to host the state United Way Community Schools Coalition this Tuesday, March 17. We will have guests from all across the district and state to tour our school and meet collaboratively to establish similar programs in other schools. I will be reminding students, as we always do, to demonstrate the Three R’s of the Warrior Way while our guests are in the building. Our Welcome Warriors will show their student leadership as students hosts for this event.

Our winter schedule did result in missing some of our Monday Community nights. I am excited to let you know that we will be open each Monday this month for Community nights. Each week a delicious catered meal is served, tutoring is available, representatives from different community organizations are here, and this week is BINGO night with gift card prizes and lots of FUN! Please join us each Monday from 5:00-6:30pm.

It was a joy to recognize our Warriors of the Month last week. Each team selects two students from the team who consistently show the Warrior Way in our school community each month.

We are only 9 days from the end of the third 9 weeks grading period and 15 days from Spring Break. I want to ask you to help us encourage your student to be present at school, complete all of their assignments, and do their very best to finish the grading period strong. Report cards will go out on Thursday, April 2. The Nine Weeks Honor Roll celebration will be Friday, April 24. More details to follow soon.

The weather has given us hints of Spring and Spring Sports have begun. I would love to invite you to come out to show your Warrior Pride supporting our athletes this Spring. On Monday, our baseball and softball teams host Valley Spring Middle while soccer travels to Valley Springs. On Thursday, baseball and softball travels to Enka Middle School. Golf begins their season soon and the first track meet is March 25 at North Buncombe Middle School. If you have an 8th grade child interested in playing Volleyball in the Fall, the high school coach will speak to interested students Tuesday during morning electives.

As we approach these last 15 days to Spring Break it is a great time to remind students to continue in the Three R’s of the Warrior Way.

8th Grade Dollywood Trip

Get ready for a day of fun! The 8th grade trip to Dollywood and Buc-ee's is scheduled for June 5, 2026. See this Dollywood & Buc-ee's information sheet for all the details. The cost is $80, and full payment is due by May 13 via Go Fan or by bringing cash or check to your homeroom teacher.

Missing Work

All missing work for ASU students (Jallal, Judice, Gosnell, & Wineberg) will be due on Sunday 3-22-26.

As we move further into the semester, we encourage all families to talk with their students about staying focused on their schoolwork and putting forth their best effort each day in class. Completing assignments on time and actively participating in learning activities helps students stay on track and build strong academic habits.

If your student has missing work or is struggling with an assignment, please encourage them to speak with their teacher for support. Our teachers are always happy to help clarify expectations and provide guidance. Families are also welcome to reach out directly to teachers with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student success at CAEMS.
