Principal's Message...
"If your heart isn't in it..." ~Atlantic Starr
There are few things that can be accomplished at a high level without complete dedication to seeing them through. I have found this to be true in all facets of life, whether it be athletes who overcome the odds to become champions or individuals who rise from poverty to become leaders in their career fields. While there may be rare exceptions, meaningful and lasting success is rarely achieved by chance. It is the product of perseverance, discipline, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to see a vision through to fruition.
When I began my journey in education, I wanted to be a positive presence in the lives of my students. Over the past twenty years, I have proudly dedicated myself to being the best principal I can be. That is the energy I bring to Holbein Middle School. I recognize that every decision I make matters to the lives of young people who will one day become adults, build families, establish careers, and, prayerfully, make a positive impact on the world. Because I believe my role as a school leader has generational significance, I put my whole heart into my work and encourage others to do the same.
Our young people need to feel our passion for their lives and futures. That is one of the best ways to instill in them a sense of self-pride, respect, and love, making it more likely that they will extend those same feelings to others. I am excited about all the potential my first year holds and look forward to seeing the results of my wholehearted commitment to Holbein Middle School.

Transitioning Support for 5th Graders
Supporting Your Child’s Transition to a New School and Middle School
Transitioning to a new school and entering the middle school grades can be an exciting yet challenging experience. As students adjust to new teachers, increased academic expectations, changing friendships, and greater independence, families play an important role in helping them feel confident and prepared.
Encourage Independence: Help your child develop organizational skills, manage assignments, follow routines, and take responsibility for their learning. Encourage them to ask questions and seek help when needed.
Support Academic Success: Establish consistent study habits and encourage perseverance, responsibility, and a positive attitude toward learning.
Stay Informed: Holbein teachers use Google Classroom and class newsletters to share assignments, classroom updates, and important information. Check these resources regularly to stay informed and help your child remain organized and on track.
Promote Social and Emotional Growth: Talk openly about your child’s experiences, friendships, and concerns. Reinforce kindness, respect, responsible decision-making, and the importance of seeking support from trusted adults.
Build a Home-School Partnership: Maintain communication with teachers, encourage regular attendance and punctuality, and celebrate your child’s progress.
With encouragement, consistency, and a strong partnership between home and school, we can help every Holbein Dragon navigate this transition and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Together, we will make this a successful school year!
The PTA Needs You!
PTA needs your support. Every parent of a Holbein Middle School stduent has something to contribute that can make our school better. It could be time, money, great oideas, or community connections. Whatever your gift, the PTA needs your engagement and involvement. Some highlights are:
- Sponsored a fantastic book fair each day and during Thursday evening
- First meeting as part of the first meeting this year.
- Beginning of the year welcome gifts for staff
- Custodians Day
Staff are also asked to join as way to show solidarity to a group who cares deeply about the betterment of HMS.

Trunk or Treat Donations
Holbein Middle School families, let’s work together to make Halloween special for children in our Mount Holly community! As we prepare for this year’s Trunk or Treat celebrations, we invite families to donate gently used Halloween costumes for children who would enjoy the opportunity to dress up and participate in the festivities.
If your child has outgrown a costume or your family has one you no longer need, please consider donating it to help another child experience the fun and excitement of Halloween.
Every donation is an opportunity to spread kindness, strengthen community connections, and bring smiles to local families. Thank you for helping our Holbein Dragons make a difference beyond our school walls!
Together, we can make Halloween memorable for every child!
Share the Spirit of Halloween with Our Mount Holly Community!
Halloween is another opportunity for Holbein Middle School families to make a positive difference in our Mount Holly community! We invite families to donate gently used Halloween costumes to help ensure that children in our community can enjoy the excitement and fun of dressing up for Halloween.
If your family has costumes that are still in good condition and no longer needed, consider sharing them with a child who would love the opportunity to wear one. Your generosity can bring smiles to children and help make Halloween a little more special for local families.
Together, we can demonstrate the power of kindness, community, and giving back. Thank you for helping our Holbein Dragons spread Halloween spirit throughout Mount Holly!

Harassment, Intimidation, & Bullying (HIB)
We are committed to keeping our families informed about our commitment to fostering a safe learning environment for scholars and staff. The NJ Anti-Bullying Rights Act (ABR) defines harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) as any gesture, any written, verbal, or physical act, or any electronic communication, whether it be a single incident or a series of incidents, that is reasonably perceived as being motivated either by an actual or perceived characteristic.
Knowing a problem exists is the first step to addressing it! School community members (employees, scholars, parents/guardians, and visitors) are asked to immediately report allegations of harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
We ask that incidents be reported in writing to ensure the details are accurately recorded. If you want to submit an anonymous HIB Incident Report click the following link: Anonymous HIB Incident Report Link

Student Attendance Matters At HMS!
"Every school day that a scholar misses is a lost opportunity to learn!"
Student attendance is closely connected to academic accomplishments. Students who regularly attend school achieve at higher levels, developing social and emotional school readiness skills more quickly than students who do not attend regularly. Even the best teacher can only effectively provide learning opportunities when students are on time and present in school. The compulsory education law (N.J.S.A. 18A:38-28 through 31) requires all children between the ages of 6-16 to attend school. The state of NJ deems students as chronically absenteeism if they are absent from school 10% of the school year. We must commit to students present and on time each day for school.
We must remain committed to ensuring that every student is present and on time each day. While we recognize the progress we have made in strengthening attendance, we also understand that there is more work to do. By working together with students, families, and staff, we can build on our successes, address barriers to attendance, and continue improving because every day in school matters, every student matters, and every opportunity to learn matters.
