Principal Advisory Committee

💙🤍 Tiger Nation—We Need Your Partnership! 🐯

Henderson Middle School is looking for community partners to join our Principal Advisory Committee. We are seeking local business owners and community leaders who are interested in partnering with our school, supporting our students, and helping us strengthen the connection between Henderson Middle School and the Jackson community.

If you own a business—or know someone who does—who would be interested in serving on our committee, please reach out to me at dominic.cummings@bcssk12.org.

Together, we can make a difference for our students and our community! 🐯💙🤍

Parents we have launched our SAFE-SPACE BOXES Parents we have launched our SAFE-SPACE BOXES

🐯💙🤍 Henderson Middle School Safe Space Boxes

Our Safe Space Boxes will provide students with a confidential and secure way to share concerns about things they may be experiencing or witnessing at Henderson Middle School. Students may use the boxes to report concerns such as bullying, mental health concerns, conflicts, safety issues, or other situations that may affect their well-being or the well-being of others.

Students will complete a Safe Space Form and place it in one of the designated boxes. The boxes will be located in secure, discreet areas to help protect student privacy and provide students with a safe way to communicate their concerns.

Our goal is to ensure that every student has a voice and knows there is someone willing to listen, support, and help.

Your voice matters. Your safety matters. You matter. 🐯💙🤍

SAVE Promise Club at Henderson Middle School

Henderson Middle School has officially launched the SAVE Promise Club — Students Against Violence Everywhere! SAVE is an important part of the Sandy Hook Promise, and we are proud to bring this initiative to our school community.

To kick things off, we held our first-ever Anti-Bullying Poster Competition!

1st Place: Sadie Murray
2nd Place: Nevaeh Hackle Livery
3rd Place: Melayna Evans

Congratulations to all of our students who participated and helped spread an important message.

October is Bullying Prevention Month!

As October approaches, it is important that we understand the difference between not being nice and bullying. Not every unkind interaction is bullying, but hurtful behavior should still be addressed.

NOT NICE / UNKIND

  • Saying something hurtful or rude

  • Leaving someone out of an activity one time

  • Having a disagreement or argument

  • Making a poor choice and taking responsibility for it

BULLYING

  • Repeated or persistent harmful behavior

  • Behavior that is intended to hurt, intimidate, or humiliate someone

  • Physical, verbal, social, or online behavior that causes harm

  • A situation where there is a real or perceived imbalance of power

Whether something meets the definition of bullying or not, if someone is being hurt, threatened, targeted, or made to feel unsafe, it is important to speak up.

See Something? Say Something.

If you see or experience something that concerns you, please report it. There are several ways to get help:

  • Tell a trusted adult

  • Make a report through STOPit

  • Talk with a school counselor

  • Speak with a teacher, administrator, or other school staff member

  • Utilize our new safe space boxes

You never have to handle a concerning situation alone. Speaking up can help keep our school safe, supportive, and welcoming for everyone.
