Don't Forget to Vote for Snowcoming King and Queen!

Last Friday, Google forms were sent out to all students grades 9-12 to vote for their class Snowcoming court representatives, as well as for senior king and queen.

Voting for 9th-11th grade court ended Monday, March 8th at midnight!

Results are being announced to the school today and will be featured in next week's issue.

Voting for king and queen will continue this week, and close on Friday, March 12 at midnight!

King and Queen will be crowned on March 19!

If you are a high school student or staff member who still needs to vote, the link can be found below!

Snowcoming Spirit Week!

Next week, March 15-19, is Spirit Week! Each day, students and teachers can show their school spirit by participating in each day's dress-up theme!

The week's dress-up days are as follows:

Monday: City/Western

Pick a side and dress-up!

Tuesday: Class Neon Day

Each class is assigned the following neon color to wear this day:

5th-7th - Yellow

8th - Orange

Freshman - Pink

Sophomores - Purple

Junior - Blue

Senior - Green

Wednesday: Student-Teacher Reversal

As the name suggests, students dress like a teacher. And teachers, dress like students did back when you were in high school!

Thursday: Throwback/Decades Day

Go back in time and choose a decade to represent for this day. This year's Snowcoming theme is the 80's!

Friday: Red and Black

Show your school spirit and represent by wearing our school colors!

Interested in Joining High School Student Council?

Students, if you are interested in boosting school spirit and morale and making the most of your high school experience, then consider joining student council!

For the remainder of the school year, the Dryden High School Student Council will be holding meetings virtually and through Google Classroom, and it is open to any students grades 9th-12th interested in joining. While COVID-19 restrictions prevent us from holding many events, the student council is still working to plan a Snowcoming spirit week and court ceremony, as well as create sports locker signs and decorate the halls.

If you are interested in joining the high school student council, please contact Student Council Advisor Mr. Cherry (mcherry@dryden.k12.mi.us) or senior president Miya Wolff (miya.wolff@dryden.k12.mi.us).

Together we can still do the most to make the most of the 2020-2021 school year!

Varsity Girls Basketball

by Ava DeVlaminck

This past week, the Dryden Varsity Girls Basketball Team only played one game due to COVID-19. That being said, the girls played Deckerville on Monday, March 1. Sadly, they lost even though it was a great game. In that game, Ella Kage scored 20 points, had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals. Riley Knox had 6 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Olivia Miller scored 6 points, had 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Natalie Embree had 5 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Alexis Schuhrke had 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists and Miya Wolff scored 3 points and 5 rebounds. Great job, ladies, and keep up the great work!

On Tuesday, March 2, the Cardinals beat Deckerville 75-44.

Merrick Maris scored 19; Jack Kaplan, 16; Jacob Burgess, 13; Josh Schornak, 8; Nate Schenkel, 5; Harry Atkinson, 4; Joe Delmotte, 3; Tommy Giles, 3; Dylan Ledford, 2; and Caden Meulebrouck, 2.

Coach John DelCampo reflected, "We really didn't play well. Thank goodness Deckerville was short a couple of players. They got tired in the second half but they outplayed us in the first half."

At the home game on March 5, Dryden lost 68-45 to Armada. "We needed to play more physical defense to beat them," commented Coach DelCampo.

Jack Kaplan scored 22; Merrick Maris, 16; Nate Schenkel, 5; and Dylan Ledford, 2.

DelCampo went on to say, "Give Armada credit. They are a very talented, athletic, well-coached team."

Andrew Parmentier

by Lily Finnigan

Andrew is an eighth-grader who has been in Dryden since kindergarten. Andrew’s favorite thing about Dryden is the people. Outside of school, he likes to hang out with friends and play hockey for his Flint team. Andrew says the hardest thing about COVID is wearing masks all the time. He would also like us to know that he is nice and hardworking. Thanks, Andrew!
