Hello Mill Valley Families, Hello Mill Valley Families,

It finally feels like October with the cooler days, colorful leaves, and plenty of exciting happenings at school. As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, we are excited about the learning and growth ahead. This month has been packed with enriching activities, fun fall events, and opportunities to celebrate our students’ achievements.

One week from today (10/31), our Mill Valley tradition of the Halloween Parade will be throughout the halls. See below for details about arrival details (such as time, doors to enter, etc).

Sincerely,

Allyce & Julie

We would like to remind you that bus behavior is an extension of the school day and riding on the bus is a privilege afforded to our students. Just as we expect respectful and responsible behavior in the classroom, we also expect the same standards to be upheld while traveling to and from school. It's crucial for the safety and well-being of all students that good behavior is maintained on the bus.

We kindly request your support in reinforcing this message with your child, emphasizing the importance of respectful conduct during their bus rides. Together, we can ensure a positive and safe environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Mill Valley 4th Graders Publish Student Newspaper Mill Valley 4th Graders Publish Student Newspaper

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

This year, 4th grade students have the opportunity to participate in the publishing of Mill Valley's newly created student newspaper, The Mill Valley Paw Print. In September, interested students were asked to submit an application explaining why they wanted to join the newspaper staff and identify which staffing roles they were interested in fulfilling. Students had the option to apply for the following positions:

  • Reporter: someone who gathers information about a topic or event and writes an article to report the information to readers
  • Columnist: someone who shares their opinion about a topic of interest through writing
  • Interviewer: someone who asks people questions to learn more about a person or event and summarizes the responses in writing
  • Cartoonist: someone who draws cartoons for entertainment
  • Photographer: someone who takes photos of important events or people to help readers better understand articles in the paper
  • Copy Editor: someone who proofreads articles prior to publication and fixes errors

Forty-one 4th graders participated in the production of the first edition of the Paw Print. The students hope to publish a paper for every month of the school and have already started brainstorming topics for the November issue. Every student and staff member will receive a printed copy of the October edition, so please look for those to come home in backpacks. We've also attached a link to the digital file.
