This week students at Southside will building a Chain of Kindness! Students will be playing kindness bingo and intentionally performing acts of kindness! The Bingo card in the picture provides examples for students, but there are so many other ideas! Parents, please play along with your student(s) and seek our random acts of kindess! ITS COOL TO BE KIND!

Title I is a Federal program that provides for schoolwide intervention and support in Reading and Math. Our Title I Teacher is Mrs. Katie Padgett and she leads a small but mighty team of Mrs. Rene Phipps, Title I Para, and Miss Sloane Asay, At-Risk Para. This team not only supports our grade level interventions in Reading and Math, but they also support our K-3 Early Lit students who need extra support in reading. Included in our Title I programming is our Reading Recovery Teacher, Mrs. Tammy McCray. While she supports both first and second grade interventions, her main responsibility is to work with first grade students in an intensive intervention called Reading Recovery. This intensive support is 1-1 and only provided in first grade, a critical time for intervening in reading instruction.

Our talented Southside Students will have their time to SHINE on Friday, March 1, 2024. The show will be held at the Powell High School Auditorium. Please watch for more information coming home in your child's backpack on this special event. Please note that the lower section of seats nearest the stage are reserved for Southside students and staff. The upper level of seats is reserved for parents and family. Thank you!
