As we head into the final week of the school year…
286 members of the HHS Class of 2024 graduated last Saturday morning.
More than 350 HHS students enrolled in a Biology class took the Biology MCAS on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Junior Awards were delivered at a ceremony on Tuesday evening.
The music department hosted its annual Jazz Night in the HHS cafeteria last night.
Looking ahead:
Final exams will begin on Wednesday 6/12.
Families should be alert for communication during the summer about a new fee ($100 per student) for participation in HHS clubs and activities that will go into effect next year.
Students looking for local community service opportunities can find many of them at this website.
A message from the Hingham Unity Council: “Join us at the Bandstand at the Hingham Harbor to celebrate Juneteenth Freedom Day (Wednesday 6/19/24) with free family fun for all! Live musical performances by Booty Vortex, Lovely Hoffman, Moussa Truore, kids’ bounce house and bounce obstacle course, relay races, face painting, balloon art, a sensory station, delicious food for purchase, and more! Please visit the website for more details on the festivities, including a list of vendors, schedule of events and sponsorship information.”
A message from Cleaner Greener Hingham: “Parents - looking for a fun project you can work on with your children this summer? Start a compost pile in your backyard and see how much less trash you dispose of each week. Click here to learn about the town of Hingham's compost program. You can purchase a backyard compost bin from the DPW for $25. If you are new to composting and need to learn more, come to the Hingham Library for a free presentation on Tuesday July 9 at 7pm. You can also watch a recorded video here. Backyard composting is easy and fun and you will be amazed at how much less trash you generate each week. For more information about the Cleaner Greener Hingham Committee and to take a short survey about trash and composting in Hingham, visit our webpage and take this survey. Thank you very much!”
A message from the Superintendent of Schools: “We would like to invite the community to save the date for possible visits by the finalists for the high school principal position. Currently, a screening committee is reviewing applicants and scheduling initial interviews. Families and community members are invited to set aside the following times to meet potential candidates: 1) Monday, June 10th at 8:15 AM (in-person) or 6:30 PM (virtual); and 2) Tuesday, June 11th at 8:15 AM (in-person) or 6:30 PM (virtual). We plan to share further information with the community by Friday, June 7th.”
Finally, as noted in recent newsletters, our counseling department has developed a new infographic that summarizes the many supports available to HHS students. Be sure to check it out.
The daily notices and full school calendar can always be viewed on the HHS website. Look for details on the website and in our weekly PTO newsletter.
