Dear MGA Families,
We had a wonderful week of learning at Monarch Global Academy. Classrooms were energized, students were engaged, and our school community continued to show the strong commitment to learning that makes MGA such a special place. One highlight we are proud to share is that Monarch Global Academy was recognized as one of the winners in the AACPS December Attendance Challenge. This recognition reflects the dedication of our students and families. Thank you for ensuring your children come to school each day ready to learn.
Why Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success. When students are present, they build skills, confidence, and connections that support long‑term achievement. Here are a few grade‑band facts that illustrate the impact:
Grades K–2: Early attendance builds foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Students who miss just 2 days a month are more likely to struggle with reading by third grade.
Grades 3–5: Regular attendance supports mastery of increasingly complex content. Students who attend consistently are more likely to meet grade‑level expectations and develop strong study habits.
Middle School: Attendance becomes closely tied to academic performance, course completion, and readiness for high school. Students who attend daily are more engaged socially and academically and are more likely to stay on track for future success.

Academic Progress
We are now halfway through the third quarter, which means students have completed about half of the required assignments that will contribute to their report card grades. This is an important time to check in on progress and help students stay organized and focused.
Please continue to monitor your child’s Canvas page for updates on assignments, grades, and classroom communication. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, reach out directly to their teacher. They are happy to partner with you.
