Mission

The learning community of Red Oak Elementary School exists to provide a culture of high expectations, to engage all students in a nurturing environment, and to inspire all students toward life readiness in an ever-changing world.

Vision

The vision of Red Oak Elementary is to be the model of academic excellence, invitational education, and high accountability for all.

Hello Red Oak Families!

We cannot wait to have our Raiders back in the building tomorrow! After a long break, we are ready to dive into more learning with our favorite students. Please make sure all NTI work is completed and turned in as soon as possible. NTI days count for attendance purposes, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher if you have any questions!

Remember to nominate that favorite teacher in your child's life! Teacher of the Year nominations are open and will be until January 26th. The link is listed below. You may nominate any teacher that has had a positive influence on any of your children. Children are also encouraged to fill out the form as well.

Speak Up Survey

The annual Speak Up Survey is open for teachers, students, and parents. The purpose of the survey is to inform our technology plan, and Ed Tech initiatives across the district. We will use the data to help district leaders and teachers better understand the student perspective and situation with technology. This will give us a scope of where a teacher may have misconceptions or struggles in technology in hopes to remove barriers for students and teachers inside the classroom. The goal is to leverage technology as a tool as it actually relates to students. Please complete the survey as soon as possible: https://projecttomorrow.questionpro.com/a/TakeSurvey?tt=qq/Xi6MPzt0ECHrPeIW9eQ%3D%3D

You may also use the button below to get to the form.

This newsletter will come out to families weekly to keep our households informed of what is happening at Red Oak Elementary. I will send out the link every Monday via Remind and Facebook.

Let me know what I can do for you,

NIT Information!

NTI booklets came home in November! Please remember to keep these booklets in a safe location. All work will be located in Google Classroom, but the packets are to be completed if you have no internet access.

  1. Please check for school closing announcements on the Lexington T.V. stations. Closings are also posted on the District’s website and Facebook page.
  2. Please take a look at the Jessamine County Code of Conduct (p.35-36), to find the school closing protocols like a two hour delay or early school dismissal. This includes the names of roads that may not be traveled.
  3. School closings will be determined prior to 6:00am.
  4. A Two-Hour Delay will be called if the forecast will allow for roads to clear and students and staff to safely travel to schools.
  5. Students must complete one day of NTI work for each day we are out of school. Your child’s teacher will be available by email from 9:00am-3:00pm to answer questions.
  6. If we are out more than one day at a time, students will complete one day of work for each day missed. Remember, this is the same as homework. If it is not completed, it carries the same consequence as not doing homework.
Please remember that in order for us to receive full credit (all 10 days) for NTI, all students must complete the work from EACH NTI day. If a child doesn’t complete the work, we will give them an opportunity to complete it at school during more preferred activities (ex. recess).

VOLUNTEER POLICY!

We LOVE to have our parents volunteer in our building, and go on field trips with our students! If you go on a field trip and are in charge of a group of students, all of this information must be submitted prior to the trip. Please be advised that these procedures may take up to 2 weeks to be completed and submitted. All of the forms needed are located in our front office at RED.

See below:

For the Child Abuse/Neglect check the DPP-156 form must be completed online. Go Here

and click CREATE ACCOUNT. Enter your information and check the DPP-156 form. You must add that you would like for us to have access to your records and include our email for confirmation. You will be given a unique code to submit for payment.

Interested in eating lunch with your student?? We would LOVE to have you!

We are so excited to have parents and family members join our students for lunch! This is a privlidge that not all schools allow and we are thankful that we are able to offer this to our families. Some things to keep in mind during your visit:

1. You must check in with the front office with a current photo ID.

2. You must be on the students list of emergency contacts in Infinite Campus.

3. Your visit allows you to eat in the cafeteria and leave immediately following after signing out in the front office.

4. We ask that no parents or visitors walk to their child's classroom after lunch. Our teachers work hard to protect the learning environment for our students and we ask for your full cooperation in this manner.

Parent Survey about Student Meals

Jessamine Co. Schools' Food Service Department's Mission is "To prepare students for learning by providing appealing and inviting meals, exposing students to local food items, and encouraging lifelong habits of healthy food choices." We value feedback from parents/guardians as we strive to serve quality meals that students enjoy.

We are pleased that all Jessamine Co. Schools offer both Breakfast & Lunch to all students at NO COST. We participate in the Community Eligibility Provision which is funded through the USDA.

Please take a few moments to share your thoughts with us! (Survey will accept responses through November 20, 2023.)

BUS RULES!!

The main goal of the Jessamine County Department of Transportation is to keep our kids SAFE while getting to and from school. Below are the bus expectations. If your student is not following these rules, a bus referral will be written. After 3 referrals, a student will no longer be able to participate in bus transportation. Please help us keep your child safe by going over these rules with them!

TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS! TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS!

Any student who is a car rider will need a tag to pick up in carline. If you do not have a car tag hanging in your car, you will need to park and come in to the office to receive your child! We appreciate your cooperation! Please remember to have your child enter and exit the vehicle on the RIGHT SIDE by the curb. This is the best way to ensure that your student stays safe!

All students will be placed on the appropriate transportation that is reflected in Infinite Campus. If you need to make a transportation change, please call Ms. Wanda in our office by 2:00. We need to have time to notify the teachers.

Our Ride 360 app is up and working! If you have any questions at all concerning your child while they are on the bus, please call our office! If you have any questions concerning the Ride 360 app, please call the Transportation Office at 859-885-4891 or the online site .

Payments and Class Fees

Families can use their Parent Portal to pay for field trips, classroom fees, and to put money in student cafeteria accounts. There are no fees associated with online payments through the Parent Portal. Online payments are optional; students may still bring in cash or a check. All RED students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of household size or income during the 2021-2022 school year. Families may choose to put money in a student’s cafeteria account to allow the student to purchase extra food/drink. Online payments are STRONGLY encouraged.

The 23-24 School Fees have been added to Infinite Campus as well as any outstanding fees associated with Chromebook damages from last year. Please login to IC Parent Portal to pay these fees. Our fees this year are $25.
