Welcoming Our Falcons with Dr. Gotto

We were thrilled to welcome our students on the first day of school! Dr. Gotto, our superintendent, joined us to greet everyone and celebrate the start of 2025–2026. Students and staff were impressed with the new renovations in our building, which made the first day even more special. It was a wonderful way to kick off an amazing school year!

About Shaw Heights Middle School About Shaw Heights Middle School

Welcome to Shaw Heights Middle School, where our mission is to empower and inspire life-long learners.

At Shaw Heights, we pride ourselves on creating an innovative and student-centered learning environment. Our campus is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support instruction and engagement. Every student has access to a personal computer, and every classroom is outfitted with interactive displays to enhance both teaching and learning. Teachers integrate digital tools and applications daily to provide students with dynamic, hands-on learning experiences. Students consistently report that these tools make learning more interactive, relevant, and enjoyable.

We are also proud to offer one of the most comprehensive and vibrant elective programs in the region:

  • Our Performing Arts department serves over 200 students and includes classes in musical theater, choir, band, and orchestra.

  • Our Visual Arts program offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of media in an environment that celebrates creativity and self-expression. Many of our students have been recognized for their work at the District Art Showcase.

Families choose Shaw Heights for the strong academic and emotional support we provide. As one parent shared: “Shaw Heights has been a huge success for my student. I love the way the teachers truly care about kids.”

We also believe in developing character and leadership. Our school offers impactful student leadership and mentoring programs, including WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) and student-led peer mediation. These initiatives foster a positive, inclusive culture and help students navigate the middle school journey with guidance and confidence from trained peer mentors.

We invite you to experience Shaw Heights for yourself. Schedule a school tour led by one of our 8th-grade student leaders, or contact us to learn how we can support your child’s academic journey.

Falcon Pride: The Falcon Four Falcon Pride: The Falcon Four

At Shaw Heights Middle School, we are committed to cultivating a positive school culture grounded in strong values. The Falcon Four serves as the foundation of our expectations for behavior and character development:

  • Respect – We promote mutual respect among students, staff, and our environment, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all.

  • Responsibility – We encourage accountability by teaching students to take ownership of their actions, learning, and commitments.

  • Integrity – We emphasize honesty and ethical behavior, ensuring our students understand the importance of doing what is right—even when no one is watching.

  • Pride – We inspire students to take pride in themselves, their work, and their community by striving for excellence in all that they do.

These core principles guide daily interactions, academic efforts, and the way we support one another.

Building Aide

I grew up in the district & graduated from Westminster High School in 2015. Over the past six years, I have been proud to work within the same community that shaped my childhood. I truly enjoy collaborating with parents and students, and the most rewarding part of my work is knowing that I’m helping families in the very community I call home.
