An Update from Hough Elementary
Message from Principal Schumacher
Dear Hough Families,
At Hough, we are incredibly proud of the positive, welcoming, and student-centered culture that defines our school community. From the way our students support one another, to the partnerships we build with families, to the dedication of our staff — Hough is a special place because of all of you.
To continue strengthening our school, we invite you to take a few minutes to complete the Panorama Family Survey. Your feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can continue to grow. The Panorama survey gives us valuable insight into school climate, communication, engagement, and the overall experience of our families and students.
Our strong culture happens because of your partnership. We recently saw that partnership on full display at two wonderful events:
Parent’s Night Out – Thank you to our incredible PTO for organizing such a fun and successful evening. It was a joy to see families connecting and supporting our school in meaningful ways.
Multicultural Night – What an amazing celebration of the diverse cultures that make up our Hough community. Sharing traditions, food, and celebrations reminds us how fortunate we are to learn from one another. Events like this truly reflect the welcoming environment we strive to cultivate every day. Both of these events highlight what makes Hough so special — connection, belonging, and community.
Please take a few minutes to complete the Panorama survey and help us continue building on this strong foundation. Please note: the surveys are sorted by school. If you have children at multiple schools, we kindly ask you to take a survey for each building. We are only at a 30% completion rate. We need 70 more families to take the survey. Once we reach our goal, we will celebrate with a PJ day at school! Help make this memorable day for your children by filling out the survey!

Inaugural Hough Multi-Cultural Night
Multicultural Night at Hough was one for the books! We are so grateful for all who attended and for our amazing Hough families for dedicating so much time and effort to curate an unforgettable experience for our community. Special thank you to Crystal Pepper and Megan Zarling for their hard work!

Our PNO was an incredible evening and we are so grateful for all who were able to attend and support our annual event! Special thank you to Katie Wilson and Kate Fanselow and their committee members for putting on such a successful and fun event!

NEXT PTO MEETING - March 12th
Eric Steckling, the Director of Communications for 220, will be joining us! Thursday March 12 @ 6:30pm, STEM room. Childcare provided in the gym! We look forward to seeing everyone then!

Coffee & Conversations – Friday, February 27 at 9:00 am
Join us at Pepper Park Coffee for casual conversation and connection with other special education parents. It’s a great way to meet new people and build relationships within our D220 community.
NISRA at SEPAC Leadership Team Meeting - Thursday, March 12 at 6:00 pm
Join us at the Barrington Area Library as we welcome a guest speaker from the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA). NISRA is dedicated to providing year-round recreational and social programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors with disabilities. NISRA will highlight their programs and services and explain how families can access and benefit from the support they provide.
