Message From the Principal
Dear Silver Firs Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I hope this message finds you excited as we embark on another fantastic year at Silver Firs Elementary. It is a pleasure to welcome you and your student(s) back to our vibrant school community.
I want to thank everyone for participating in the Kindergarten Wakids Family Conferences; they went exceptionally well! If you are the parent of a Kindergartner and were unable to schedule a meeting during the allotted time, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Our staff has been ready and prepared for students and families, and their efforts to create an engaging classroom environment—both academically and socially—have been extremely successful. We are dedicated to ensuring that every student feels supported and valued as we move forward together.
As a reminder, all Silver Firs students riding bicycles to and from school are required to sign a "Bike Safety Agreement." This agreement outlines essential bike safety rules, including:
- Ride on the right-hand side of the road.
- Wear a bicycle helmet.
- Walk bicycles across the crosswalk at patrol crossings.
- Ride single file and be cautious when approaching pedestrians.
- Walk bicycles on school grounds (physically dismount from the bike and walk it at all times on campus). No bikes may be ridden on school grounds between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
- Park and lock bicycles in bike racks. Security chains or locks are required for all bicycles.
Please ask for a "Bike Safety Agreement" from our office if you plan to have your 3rd, 4th, or 5th-grade child ride their bike to school. Students who violate any of the bicycle safety rules may be required to leave their bicycles at home. Bicycles brought to school are done so at the students’ own risk. The EPS bike policy, adopted in 1995, states that skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, rollerblades, and similar devices may not be used on district property, and the district cannot be responsible for the loss or theft of these devices or any other student property. Additionally, "Heely" style shoes are not permitted for the safety of all. This information was also shared in the welcome parent newsletter in August.
Here’s to a great year ahead! Thank you for being an essential part of our Silver Firs Family.
Best regards,
Aleta Smoot, SFE Principal
