BHS Happenings

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up at BHS! Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 28th and 29th. Conferences will be in person, but we ask all parents to register for their time slots on My Conference Time, so teachers can better prepare to discuss your child. If you need for your conference to be virtual, please reach out to the teacher prior to your scheduled conference to make arrangements for a virtual option. You can schedule meetings with all of your child's teachers or just select ones. Time Slots for conferences are ten minutes. Parents who do not register on My Conference Time, will have to wait for an available slot to conference, as those previously scheduled will take priority. My Conference Time will is open to schedule conferences now. Directions on how to schedule your conferences are available in the smore link below.

Celebrating 25 Inspiring Latinos Who Have Shaped the United States: Nuestra América

BHS' UConn Spanish and Honors Spanish IV students stepped up and made an incredible impact as they brought 25 Latino trailblazers to life during our very first Hispanic Heritage Living Museum, Nuestra América!

Attendees explored the gallery and encountered students standing motionless as "living statues," surrounded by custom visual displays, authentic costumes, and signature props. With the ring of a bell, guests brought each historical figure to life—prompting students to step seamlessly into character and deliver a 30-to-60-second monologue sharing their figure's heritage, key achievements, and lasting cultural legacy before returning to their frozen pose.

It was deeply inspiring to see our students step into history with such pride, respect, and enthusiasm!

• The Literacy Team at Metacomet School is looking for student volunteers to help assemble decodable booklets for young readers. Volunteers will tear out, fold, and staple booklet pages. This project provides students with essential reading materials to build fluency and comprehension, while allowing teachers to dedicate more planning time to collaboration. Please contact the Literacy Coach Mrs. Glassman at Metacomet School at iglassman@bloomfieldschools.org if you have any questions or are available to help out.
