Gator Family News August 14th, 2026

8/11-8/14

What an amazing first week of school! 🐊

Our Gators had a wonderful start to the new school year! This week was filled with smiles, learning, new friendships, and lots of excitement as students settled into their classrooms and became familiar with their new routines.

Throughout the week, students spent time getting to know their teachers and classmates, practicing school expectations, exploring their classrooms, and building a strong foundation for a successful year ahead.

We are so proud of how well our students adjusted during their first week back. A huge thank you to our families for your patience, support, and partnership as we kicked off another exciting school year.

We can't wait to see all the wonderful things our Gators will learn, achieve, and accomplish this year!

Here’s to a fantastic 2026–2027 school year! 🐊💚

Student Arrival Update

Thank you, Gator families, for your patience and flexibility as we worked through our arrival procedures during the first week of school! 💚

Through a little trial and error, we learned that opening our doors just a bit earlier will help create a smoother and more efficient start to the school day.

Beginning now, school doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership as we make adjustments that help our students start their mornings safely, calmly, and ready to learn! 🐊

We are making a small adjustment to our morning arrival procedures to help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.

Beginning now, car riders will need to pull all the way up to the front of the line for student drop-off.

🚫 Please do not stop directly in front of the school entrance (Door 1) to drop off your child.

Students will use the sidewalk to safely walk from the designated drop-off area to the school entrance, where staff will be available to welcome and assist them.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue adjusting our procedures to create a safe and smooth arrival for all of our Gators! 🐊💚

Transportation Changes

To help ensure a safe and smooth dismissal, we ask that all transportation changes be communicated to the school office before 1:00 p.m.

If your child will be going home a different way than usual, please call the school office before 1:00 p.m. This allows our staff enough time to notify the appropriate teacher and make sure your child gets to the correct dismissal location.

Transportation changes cannot be guaranteed after 1:00 p.m.

Thank you for helping us keep dismissal organized and, most importantly, our students safe! 💛

New District 300 Elementary Family FAQ

We are excited to introduce a new Elementary Family FAQ designed to provide quick answers to many of the questions families commonly have throughout the school year. The FAQ includes information on topics such as attendance, arrival and dismissal procedures, lunch, birthdays, visitors, transportation, and more.

To make information easy to find and ensure it stays up to date, the FAQ is available on the District website and can also be accessed from our school's About page.

View the Elementary Family FAQ here: https://www.d300.org/about/elementary-faq

We encourage all families to bookmark this resource for easy reference throughout the school year.

Is Your Child Going to Be Absent? 📞

If your child will not be attending school, please notify the school office before 8:00 a.m. on the day of the absence.

Calling in your child's absence promptly helps us account for every student and ensure their safety.

When reporting an absence, please provide your child's first and last name, teacher, and reason for the absence.

Thank you for helping us keep our attendance records accurate and our students safe! 💛

Birthday Celebration Update

With the start of a new school year, District 300 has implemented a new policy regarding birthday celebrations.

D300 schools will no longer allow food treats to be brought into classrooms for birthdays. This includes items such as cupcakes, juice, chips, candy, or any other food or beverages.

If you would still like to help your child celebrate, you are welcome to send a small non-food item for the class, such as:

A book for the classroom
Pencils
Stickers
Bookmarks
Erasers
Other small trinkets

To help keep all of our students safe, all birthday items must be non-food due to student allergies and dietary restrictions.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to create a safe and inclusive environment for all students. We appreciate your cooperation!

📱 Personal Electronic Device Policy

To help create a focused learning environment, District 300 has updated its expectations regarding student personal electronic devices.
- During the school day, all personal electronic devices must be powered off and stored in the student's backpack.
- Personal electronic devices may not be used during instructional time or study time.
- Smartwatches and Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are not permitted during the school day.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations and helping us provide a distraction-free learning environment for all students.

🍎 Nurse Updates

Medication at School

If your child takes medication that needs to be administered by the school nurse during school hours, parents/guardians must submit the required health documentation each school year.

Please make sure the school has a current:

Health Care Action Plan
Medication Administration Form

These forms must be renewed and submitted every school year, even if your child's medication or health needs have not changed.

Thank you for helping us ensure our health office has the information and authorization needed to safely care for your child during the school day. ❤️

You don't need any special experience—just a positive attitude, a willingness to work with other parents, and a desire to help our students and school community thrive.

Whether you have a few hours each month or would like to take on a larger role, we'd love to have you join us. Together, we can continue creating meaningful experiences for our Golfview families!
