Skyview families,

Over the past two weeks, Skyview students completed the FastBridge reading and math assessments. These assessments provide an early measure of how many students are currently meeting grade-level benchmarks in these critical subjects. Teachers will use the results to plan instruction, provide additional support, and challenge students throughout the year.

We asked every student to focus and give their best effort. We also challenged each grade level to improve upon last year’s results, with the opportunity to earn music during lunch as a reward.

As the chart below shows, our fall results give us both reasons to celebrate and clear priorities for growth. Congrats to our seventh graders for improving in both subjects, increasing four percentage points in reading and two percentage points in math! We are committed to building upon our success and strengthening our achievement throughout the school year.

Families play an important role in this work. Please regularly review our Weekly Learning Snapshots and Campus Parent to stay informed about coursework, grades, assessments, and attendance. Talking with your student about what they are learning and ensuring that they complete assigned work will help us increase achievement together.

Please keep reading for important expectations for students attending Skyview and Tartan athletic events, as well as a reminder about Picture Day next Wednesday.

Athletic events should be safe, positive experiences for students, families, athletes, and spectators. To help ensure this, the following expectations will be enforced.

All Skyview students attending an athletic event as spectators must:

• Leave campus at dismissal at 2:00pm. Students may not remain at school while waiting for the event to begin.

• Return to the event accompanied by a supervising adult.

• Follow the limit of no more than two students per supervising adult.

• Remain with the supervising adult throughout the event.

Students who do not meet these expectations will be required to leave and a parent or guardian will be contacted.

All Skyview students attending a Tartan athletic event must:

• Be accompanied by a supervising adult.

• Remain with the adult throughout the event.

• Follow all Tartan event rules and staff directions.

• Identify themselves when asked by Tartan staff.

Students who do not follow these expectations may be denied admission or required to leave the event.

School Picture Day is Wednesday, September 23. Lifetouch order forms will be sent home with students next week through Advisory.

Families may preorder pictures at mylifetouch.com using Picture Day ID EVTSSRMBS.

Please note:

• After Picture Day, families may order online by locating their student with the student’s ID number. Lifetouch will not accept late cash orders or provide a late-order envelope.
• Lifetouch will no longer be accepting late cash orders and will not leave a late order envelope.

Registration opens Monday, September 21, at this link for the following winter activities:

• Coed Weight Training: Grades 6–8; meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; limited to 30 students

• Coed Wrestling: Grades 6–8; meets Mondays through Thursdays

• Girls Basketball: Grades 7–8; meets Mondays through Thursdays

Wrestling and girls basketball begin Monday, October 26. Weight training begins Tuesday, October 27.

Information about boys basketball will be shared later this winter.
