Lincoln Lowdown- 5/5/25
Mental Health Awareness Month!
We have resources for you!
Dear Lincoln Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to recognize the importance of mental well-being and to remind one another that it's okay to ask for help, speak up, and support each other with compassion and understanding.
At Lincoln Middle School, we are committed to nurturing not only our students' academic growth, but also their emotional and mental well-being. We encourage our students to talk about their feelings, practice self-care, and seek support when needed. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing resources, activities, and moments of reflection to promote a culture of care and kindness.
This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to take a moment to celebrate our incredible educators. Their unwavering dedication, empathy, and creativity play a vital role in supporting both the academic and emotional development of our students. We are truly grateful for all they do to make Lincoln a place where students feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Let’s continue working together to create a school community where every student—and every educator—feels valued, supported, and safe.

New Mural Coming Soon!
Vote!
We’re excited to share some vibrant news! Our awesome PTSA is sponsoring a brand-new mural for the front lawn of Lincoln Middle School, replacing the current one with a fresh design that provides a sense of community.
Over the past several months, a dedicated committee of parents, students, and faculty has been working together to shape this vision. We’re now thrilled to present two beautiful mock-ups, and we’d love for you to help us choose which one will become the next piece of public art on our campus!
Please take a moment to view the designs and cast your vote. Your input matters—we want this mural to be a reflection of all of us!
Thank you for your continued support and for helping make Lincoln a place where creativity, collaboration, and community thrive.

Dr. Jonny Kim! LMS Alumni!
Amazing!
We’re thrilled to share an exciting moment from this past Tuesday—two of our Lincoln Middle School students, Sofie Johnson and iwa Hashim had the incredible opportunity to ask questions directly to NASA Astronaut and proud Lincoln alum, Dr. Jonny Kim at the International Space Station!
Dr. Kim, who once walked the same halls as our current students, inspired us all with his story of perseverance, service, and curiosity. It was a powerful reminder that our students are capable of reaching for the stars—literally!
We’re so proud of our students for representing Lincoln with thoughtful questions and curiosity, and we’re grateful to Dr. Kim for taking the time to connect with our community.

DEIA Meeting
Thank you!
This past Friday, we held another meaningful Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) meeting—an important space where voices are heard, perspectives are shared, and our commitment to a more inclusive Lincoln community continues to grow.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rob Howard for his ongoing leadership and inspiration. Rob’s passion and dedication consistently help us cultivate a school environment where every student and family feels valued, seen, and supported.
Thank you to all who joined the conversation. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Lincoln.

Exciting Events for 8th Graders This Semester!
With a less than two months left of school, we wanted to share some upcoming events that our 8th graders will enjoy during this final semester. We’ll be sending more detailed information soon including graduation requirements, yearbook deadlines, and other important updates before spring break.
8th Grade Dance – Friday, June 6th
The 8th grade dance, organized by parent volunteers, is sure to be a fun evening. We’ll need many 8th grade parents to help before and after the event with transforming the cafeteria and making it a memorable night for our kids.
8th Grade Promotion – Thursday, June 12th
Due to the size of our 8th grade class, the promotion ceremony will be split into two groups based on your child’s core group. Each student will be allowed to bring 3 guests to the ceremony. Support for These Events With that said, these events cost money. While the Lincoln PTSA commits $10,000 as part of the annual budget, your donations and fundraising are crucial to covering the additional $35,000 required for all 8th grade activities. To fund Golf N’ Stuff and buses for transportation as well as ensure that the dance and promotion committees can start planning, we suggest a donation of $175 per student to be made by February 18, 2025; however, any contribution is greatly appreciated. 100% of the donations will go directly toward the 8th grade class activities.
Please click the link below to make your donation today https://lincolnmiddleschoolptsa.org/product/8th-grade-promotion-fund/
Cash and Check Donations accepted. Checks can be written to “Lincoln Middle School PTSA”. Cash donations can be dropped off labeled “8th Grade Activities” to Lincoln front office staff to be given to PTSA. Thanks to all families that have already made their donations! Not sure if you already donated? Contact John Jericiau, LMS PTSA Treasurer at treasurer@lmsptsa.org
