Letter from Ms. Bedford

Hello Smallville,

It's been a busy week with a lot of accomplishments and events to share! I love being a Cougar and a member of Smallville because we are just so amazing! First, I have to shout out my awesome Admin Team for Assistant Principal Week. Mr. Hendricks, Ms. Zamarripa, Mr. Poehl, and Ms. Smootz keeps me on point and all of their hard work, dedication, and leadership allow Smallville to run smoothly. I couldn’t imagine a better team to work alongside. I also have to shout out our lovely librarian, Ms. Sylvia, she is incredible and I appreciate all her dedication to making sure our students are avid learners and readers.

Small MS PTA WINS

Our very own PTA has won AISD’s “PTA of the Year” award! I can’t wait to celebrate with them at the upcoming Salute Awards. This is a huge accomplishment and I’m so proud of all of our parents and community members who volunteer and support our campus daily!

Treble Bass Choir SWEEPS UIL

Our Cougar Treble Bass Choir earned the highest ratings in both Concert and Sight-reading and brought back a Sweepstakes trophy! We are so proud of them and all of their hard work throughout the year to fulfill this goal.

High School Musical is a STUNNER!

This week our Varsity Theatre students closed out their show High School Musical with a bang. We appreciate everyone who came out to support out Theatre Department. Our Cougar thespians put on a sensational show. I also thank them for inviting me to be in the ensemble which allowed me to showcase my stellar dance moves!

Make sure to read below, we have a lot of great things happening in the next few weeks. Our staff is so excited to view the eclipse together on Monday. Our students have been participating in lessons, reading fun facts about eclipses, and learning about this unique experience. Also, a friendly reminder that Wednesday, April 10th is a staff development day and a student holiday for our Cougars.

I hope your next week "eclipses" all others,

Stay Present Cougars,

Bedford

Attention Current 6th Grade Families

This is a friendly reminder to Parents/Guardians of upcoming seventh grade students to turn in proof of the following vaccinations before the beginning of the 24/25 school year. State law requires one dose of the meningococcal conjugate (MCV4) vaccine and one dose (booster) of the tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine for all students. More information can be found at School and Childcare | Texas DSHS. Please reach out to the school nurse at erin.clifford@austinisd.org, if you have specific questions regarding your child's immunization records.

Dances are not possible without the support of our amazing parents and guardians. We are seeking the following for the Spring Dance (4/12):

  • 3 parents to sell wristbands during each lunch next week - (Remember no school Wednesday and no wristband sales during STAAR on Thursday!!!)
  • 15 chaperones per dance
  • 2 adults to help Student Council with concession sales in the Cougar Cage per dance

Please complete the form and I will reach out to you this by the end of the week with additional information.
