TEA Accountability Rating
We not only earned an overall A rating, but achieved a 93 in EVERY domain:
✅ Student Achievement: 93
✅ School Progress: 93
✅ Closing the Gaps: 93
While only the higher of the first two domains factors into 70% of the overall rating, our focus has always been on excelling in student achievement AND student growth, all while prioritizing eliminating any achievement gaps.
Here are some other celebrations:
- 5 Distinctions
- A 5-point increase in Academic Growth.
- Ranked #1 out of 40 campuses in our comparison group for Academic Growth and #1 out of 40 campuses for Closing the Gaps. #1!!!
These results are a reflection of the hard work, passion, and belief that every student can succeed. Thank you to our teachers, staff, students, and families for making this possible. We have so much to celebrate, and we are incredibly proud of Keeley Elementary!
Garland Reads, Garland Leads for PreK-2nd Grade
This year, your child will participate in Garland Reads. Garland Leads, Garland ISD's at-home reading initiative for PreK, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. The Garland Reads Folder includes resources, weekly reading practice, and creates opportunities to celebrate your child's reading progress.
What's Inside the Garland Reads Folder?
Your child will bring home the Garland Reads Folder each week. The folder will be used throughout the school year and includes:
This Parent Letter, which explains the Garland Reads initiative.
An At-Home Skills Practice Guide, a resource to keep all year with ideas and activities to support reading at home.
A Weekly Reading Log, where you'll record your child's reading each week.
A Magnetic Reader printable book, which will be replaced each week. Previous books stay in the folder so your child can revisit and practice familiar texts.
What We Ask Families To Do
📚 Read with your child or encourage independent reading throughout the week.
📝 Record your child's reading on the Weekly Reading Log.
✔️ Sign the Weekly Reading Log by Thursday.
📁 Return the Garland Reads Folder to school every Friday.
Teachers will review Weekly Reading Logs, add a new Magnetic Reader book, and send the folder home each Monday. We are so excited to celebrate our readers!
Attendance
Parents, we need your help this year! Our attendance impacts funding and accountability, and if students are not here, they can't learn. Please make sure that your child is present each day unless they are sick. Mondays and Fridays are low attendance days for Keeley. Here is our attendance for each day last week and our average for the week. Monday and Friday were the lowest days.
Remember your badge each day
We already had to replace several badges the first week of school. We are asking students to put their badge in the front pocket of their backpack prior to leaving for the day. Please make sure they have it each morning prior to coming into the building. This system is really helping us get our Pre-K through 1st graders to the right spot each morning.
- Badges must be worn daily. Make it part of your morning routine — badge on before heading out the door.
- Lost or damaged badges: The first replacement is provided at no cost. Additional replacements are $5 each. Treat the badge like any other essential school item.

💧 Don’t Forget Your Water Bottle! 💧
Please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle each day. With the warm weather, it is especially important that our students stay hydrated throughout the school day!
Thank you for helping us keep our students happy, healthy, and ready to learn! 🤠💙❤️

Apply to be a volunteer
We value all our volunteers and the work they do to help our school. For the safety of all students, we require potential volunteers who will work at any campus receive a background check by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which is done through our online application.
