Senior Scoop!
THE SENIOR SCOOP! OCT 2026
College Applications: Common App & ApplyTexas
Seniors have access to information and resources for both Common App and ApplyTexas.
Common App is one of the most widely used college application platforms, allowing students to apply to participating colleges and universities across the country. It also integrates with Xello, the college and career planning platform NYOS students use in grades 6–12, which helps students manage parts of the application and document-request process.
ApplyTexas is Texas's statewide college application platform and is another important option for students applying to colleges and universities within Texas.
Many Texas universities accept more than one application platform, including Common App and ApplyTexas. Students do not need to submit an application through both platforms to the same college. Always check what each institution accepts and choose the option that works best for you.
Free College Application Week Is Almost Here!
As we've shared throughout the first quarter, Free College Application Week is just around the corner for any student planning to apply to colleges on the Apply Texas platform! Texas residents can apply to any Texas public college or university for undergraduate admission with the application fee waived, which can save families real money.
Dates: October 12–18, 2026
Deadline: Applications must be submitted through ApplyTexas by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 18.
Apply here: https://www.applytexas.org
How to prepare:
• Talk with your student about the schools they're interested in
• Have high school information, extracurriculars, and any test dates ready before logging in
• Start essays early. Applications must be submitted (not just started) by the deadline to qualify
• Stop by Mrs. Pierce's office or send a chat if your student needs help getting started
Seniors especially should take advantage of this opportunity.
TSI Dates 2026
📢 TSIA2 Testing Opportunities for Students Interested in Dual Credit
Students and Families,
If your student is interested in taking advantage of Dual Credit opportunities at NYOS in the near future, now is a great time to begin planning for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2). Passing the required sections of the TSIA2 is one of the eligibility requirements for many Austin Community College (ACC) Dual Credit courses.
Registration Information
If your child is interested in taking Dual Credit, please note that the TSIA2 registration form is only available through the student's NYOS Google account. Students must be signed into their NYOS account to access and submit the registration form. Parents are encouraged to review the information with their student, but the registration must be completed using the student's NYOS account.
Additional testing details, including the final testing date, time, and location, will be emailed to registered students approximately one week before each test administration.
If you have any questions about the TSIA2, Dual Credit, or determining if your student is ready to begin earning college credit while in high school, please contact Mrs. Pierce, CCMR Counselor & Dual Credit Liaison.

Dear Jaguar Families,
🏈 Homecoming Week Is Here, JAGS! 🐾
It’s Homecoming Week, and we’re celebrating JAG pride all week long! Thank you for the energy, spirit, and school pride you bring to our students every day. It makes this week special.
Homecoming Rally: Friday, October 16
Join us for our Homecoming Rally this Friday! Please plan to bring your class and show your spirit. Wear your school colors, cheer loud, and help us send our JAGS off ready to win.
Our students notice when their teachers show up, so let’s pack the stands and show them what JAG pride looks like!
Come out and support our JAGS! 💪
I left out the rally time and location because I didn’t have them. Add those under the Friday heading, along with anything else teachers need to know, like dismissal changes or dress-up day details.
We are so excited to celebrate HOCO 2026! To make this week a success, we need your help. We are looking for volunteers and donations to support our Homecoming dance. If you are able to help, please fill out the form below and our Admin team will give you an assignment:
