Elementary Band Registration is Here!
Hello 4th and 5th grade families!
This past week Mr. Langdon, Mrs. Mumie, and members of the high school band presented an assembly that demonstrated the band instruments that students can play in 4th and 5th grade. All 4th graders should have received an informational flyer about the elementary band program with the instrument(s) that are best suited for them. 5th grade students that are interested in joining the band should have received a flyer as well.
We will be holding a “Join the Band” night on Monday, September 15 at 6:30 in the Middle School West Cafeteria. Please register your child prior to this meeting using the flyer or you can find a link to the flyer here: Join the Band Flyer
During this meeting parents will register for an evening lesson with their child on either September 24 or 25.
Please email kmumie@boyertownasd.org or blangdon@boyertownasd.org with any questions.
News From The Nurse
News from the Nurse
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Jennifer Thomas to the Gilbertsville Elementary Health Room as our full-time Staff Nurse! Mrs. Thomas looks forward to working with the Gilbertsville Elementary community. Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. McShane will be working closely with one another in the Gilbertsville Elementary Health Room. They are excited to start the 25/26 school year!
Some reminders as we begin the school year:
· Please remind your child(ren) not to share lunch and/or snacks. There are several students with food allergies and/or food sensitivities.
· Please remind your child(ren) to come to school with a refillable water bottle each day. There are water refilling stations in the student halls.
· Please keep a spare change of clothing in your child’s backpack for lunchroom spills and bathroom accidents.
· If food items are brought in by students for birthday celebrations, they must be pre-packed with all allergen information listed.
· Please remind your child(ren) to wear closed toe and comfortable shoes as they will be going outside for recess as the weather allows (please discourage crocs and sandals). Student will not be allowed to participate in Physical Education class without the proper footwear.
· If your child is injured at home and will need medical care/accommodations at school, please contact the school nurse to discuss details. All accommodations at school (i.e. crutches, wheelchairs, boots and braces) will need a doctor's note. Any injuries that occur outside of school should also be managed at home prior to arrival.
· If your child requires medication during the school day (including prescription and over the counter medication), please complete the District’s Medication Administration form. New orders are needed each school year even if there are no changes.
· If your child has a health condition/severe allergy that requires an Emergency Action Plan, please review the district’s Health Services Page with the necessary documents that need to be submitted. New action plans and medication orders are required each school year even if the order has not changed.
· If your child is not feeling well, please keep them at home. Please see the District’s Sick Policy.
· Head Lice: Although lice cannot jump, they are easily transmittable through hugging, sharing combs, sharing hats and coats, etc. Please remind your child not to share items and to be cognizant of personal space. Please refer to the District's Lice Policy.
· Incoming students and 3rd graders will need to provide the Family Dental Form. Dental visits completed after July 1, 2024, are acceptable for this requirement.
· Medical forms, activity restrictions, new medicine orders and/or emergency action plans can be sent directly to the school nurse via fax (610) 369-7686 or via email jthomas@boyertownasd.org or pmcshane@boyertownasd.org.
· If you have any other questions for the nurse, please contact the Health Room at (610)473-5070 or (610)473-5039.
