PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Students and Families,

Hopefully you and your son/daughter have enjoyed a relaxing summer. We are excited to begin the 25-26 school year. Our goal and hopefully your child’s goal is to make every year better than the previous year. Our mission and vision this year at the high school is every student will have a meaningful connection with at least one adult because we exist to foster an inclusive environment where we can thrive academically, grow personally, and feel connected to the community. We will work to provide all of our students with the tools to make them successful in whatever path they may choose. Let's all make a concerted effort to be Mindful, Kind, Compassionate, & Respectful to each other! Have a great 2025-2026 school year.

If we can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to call, e-mail, or make an appointment to address your needs.

Schools are responsible for ensuring that student attire, hairstyle, jewelry, and personal items do not interfere with the health or safety of any student and do not contribute to a hostile or intimidating environment for any student.

Core Values

Students have the right to be treated equitably. Dress code enforcement will not create disparities, reinforce or increase marginalization of any group, nor will it be more strictly enforced against students because of race, racial identity, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, gender nonconformity, sexual orientation, cultural or religious identity, household income, body size/type, or body maturity;

Students should be able to dress and style their hair for school in a manner that expresses their individuality without fear of unnecessary discipline or body shaming;

Students and staff are responsible for managing their personal distractions; and

Students should not face unnecessary barriers to school attendance.

Universal Dress Code

Students must wear:

Top (shirt, blouse, sweater, sweatshirt, tank, etc.) extending to the waistline on all sides (any top that doesn’t, must be covered by a top that does extend to the waistline on all sides);

Bottom (pants, shorts, skirt, dress, etc.); and footwear.

Students may not wear clothing, jewelry, or personal items that:

  • Are pornographic, contain threats, or that promote illegal or violent conduct such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or drug paraphernalia.

  • Demonstrate hate group association/affiliation and/or use hate speech targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, or other protected groups;

  • Demonstrate gang association/affiliation;

  • Cover the head (hats or hoodies, except on pre-approved days).

The district may require additional student attire protocol requirements when necessary to ensure safety in certain academic settings (e.g. physical activity, science, or Career and Technical Education courses).

Attire worn in observance of a student’s religion are not subject to this Student Dress Code. Students may wear any religiously, ethnically, or culturally specific head coverings or hairstyles, such as hijabs, yarmulkes, headwraps, braids, dreadlocks, and cornrows.

PARENTS REMINDER ABOUT STUDENT'S MEDICATION

A reminder to parents regarding medication during school hours. All medications are required to have a medication order form completed by your child's prescribing physician. Once that is done a parent/guardian must drop off the medication in the original container directly to the school nurse. We ask that you contact the nurse ahead of time to schedule a time to drop off medication. Medications can not be sent in with students. Please contact the nurse directly with any questions or help finding the correct form to use.

ASTHMA INHALERS

The Board permits students to possess asthma inhalers and to self-administer the prescribed medication used to treat asthma when such is parent and physician authorized. Please contact the nurse with any questions or help finding the correct form to use.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE CARDS

Please be sure to fill out your child's 2025/2026 emergency card verification form in Sapphire as soon as possible. This helps us to take care of your child's medical needs in a timely manner and give over the counter medications as deemed approved by the parent/guardian.

Please use this link for online access to any health room forms:

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

BUS ROUTES CHANGES

The District will allow for a total of 3 bus stop changes per year. This constitutes a bus change. The bus change request must allow 24 hours for approval to allow notification to bus drivers. Students will not be dropped off or picked up at a stop that does not already exist.

A request for riding a bus other than your child’s assigned bus must be in writing from both parents stating both students' names, the bus number to be riding, and the stop they are riding to for that day, plus the purpose of this request and that you are permitting for this to occur. This request must be approved before 1:00 PM that day by the building office Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Cook. Please have your student submit your signed handwritten bus change request to Mrs. Cook in the high office or the parent may send an email to tcook@bermudian.org.

Bus policies will be strictly adhered to. Please view the Student Transportation Procedures on the website at www.bermudian.org under Services.

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Any change of address and/or new telephone number must be updated in the Sapphire Community Web Portal. Bermudian Springs High School strongly encourages that parents maintain the most current information in the Community Web Portal. If at any time you have questions or concerns about the Community Web Portal Update process please contact

Sapphiresupport@bermudian.org.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

When your child is absent for two days or more, you are encouraged to call the guidance office to request assignments. It is important to call before 9:00 a.m. so that assignments may be collected throughout the day. Assignments may then be picked up after 2:00 p.m. in the guidance office or in the high school office between 3:00 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Homework assignments can be sent home with another high school student but cannot be sent home with a student that is in the middle school or elementary school. It is also a good idea to have your child know the name and phone number of someone in their class to get notes and/or homework assignments.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Safe2Say Safe2Say

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.

Here’s how it works:

  • Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
  • Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
  • Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
  • If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app

Check out the website if you would like more information: Safe 2 Say

988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline

https://988lifeline.org/

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

The Lifeline’s network of over 200 crisis centers has been in operation since 2005, and has been proven to be effective. It’s the counselors at these local crisis centers who answer the contacts the Lifeline receives every day. Numerous studies have shown that callers feel less suicidal, less depressed, less overwhelmed and more hopeful after speaking with a Lifeline counselor.
